Sateliot Expands 5G NB-IoT Satellite Constellation with Four New Launches

Sateliot's latest satellites boost global IoT connectivity, paving the way for extensive 5G NB-IoT coverage.

Four new low-Earth orbit (LEO) nanosatellites have been launched by Sateliot, extending their constellation of 5G NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet of Things) satellites. Using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, the satellites were successfully launched on August 16, 2024.

In Sateliot's goal to offer global IoT connectivity, this launch represents a critical milestone. The additional satellites are intended to serve a variety of industries, including logistics and agriculture, by removing connection dead zones and expanding mobile telecom providers' worldwide reach. This growth is a component of Sateliot's larger strategy to run more than 100 satellites by 2028 in an effort to revolutionize IoT capabilities independent of infrastructure or location constraints.

"This launch drives us into a new phase of development," said Sateliot CEO and co-founder Jaume Sanpera, highlighting the significant achievement. As we establish Spain as a global leader in IoT connectivity, we will begin to make money. In order to advance future developments in Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), the company uses a patented "Store and Forward" technology that complies with GSMA and 3GPP standards.

The European Space Agency (ESA), GSMA, and the Spanish government all provided support for the launch ceremony, which took place in Barcelona. By 2025, Sateliot hopes to have raised €30 million in Series B funding, with the goal of reaching €1 billion in revenue by 2030. Its technology is already expected to connect more than eight million devices.
