Here comes Weather Poster, a smart display screen from Oli Woods and his company Typified. As a Kickstarter project, the Weather Poster is a nice-looking screen-printed poster that connects to the Wi-Fi to show you the weather. Limited in actions? Maybe, but that’s how the future wall-hangings will look like!
The poster also doesn’t get into too many details about the weather forecast, but simply shows you if it’s sunny, cloudy or rainy. There are also four-time divisions - 8 AM, 12 PM, 4 PM, and 8 PM. You can hang this poster next to your coat closet or right beside your door. It could be a notification thing whether you need to take your umbrella today or not.
Coming to the technical aspects, Typified has cleverly used a traditional paper poster for the screen. It uses heat sensitive ink to focus on the necessary icons to display the forecast data. The data itself comes from the Internet that’s accessed through Wi-Fi.
Simplicity is part of the design that’ll make it blend along with your home décor and other IoT gadgets powering our homes. All in all, Weather Poster is a nice blend of traditional and digital technology. You can certainly get all the weather updates you need on your phone, but having it on your wall has a unique and inquisitive appeal.
