Alexa, the voice-assisted AI technology is collaborating with Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) to provide health information advice. Amazon has announced that its digital assistant, Alexa, will provide reliable health information from the National Health Service (NHS) website to the local users.
This voice-assisted technology will help patients especially the blind, elderly, and the non-Internet-connected in getting professional help within seconds.
This collaboration also aims to ease pressure on the NHS by providing information on common illnesses and by reducing the need to visit a doctor. The partnership does not add significantly to Amazon’s technology but it will be useful for people with disabilities and for those who struggle to handle computers.
A smart AI speaker could save you from Cardiac arrest and other illnesses. Now, patients can ask questions such as "Alexa, what are the symptoms of flu?", "Alexa, what are the symptoms of chickenpox" or "Alexa, how do I treat a migraine?”
“This partnership has the potential to help some patients work out what kind of care they need before considering whether to seek face-to-face medical help, especially for minor ailment,” says Helen Stokes-Lampard, chair of the Royal College of GPs.
