Thinking of buying an electric vehicle, but don’t have a permanent place to charge it? Think no longer. Volkswagen has got an innovative solution for you. It seems like the German automobile maker will be bringing the charging station to you!
Yes, you heard it right. Volkswagen has given a sneak peek to their new mobile charging units that can be delivered directly to electric cars that need power. Electric car owners no longer need to worry about finding charging stations when their power starts running low. Ideal for those living in the cities, the portable charging stations can be in a shopping center parking lot or even on the streets where you may park at night.
Volkswagen announced that up to 15 EVs can be charged at one station as the ‘power bank’ comes with 360 kWh. With its quick charging capability, a car will require just about 17 minutes to charge. The portable DC charging stations from Volkswagen could be the perfect IT service for you.
Volkswagen’s innovative idea is going to all in for renewable power supply and help in environmental conservation. The company said, “In case the charging process is based on renewable power supply, the charging station furthermore allows the temporary storage of sustainably generated power, such as solar or wind energy – and therefore CO2-neutral mobility.” The first of these mobile charging points will come to the German city Wolfsburg in the first half of this year.
