Designer Sara Chraibi honored Morocco

Moroccan designer Sara Chraibi showcased her collection at Dubai Fashion Week, marking her as the only Middle Eastern and North African woman on Paris Haute Couture Week.

Days after the line premiered in France, Moroccan designer Sara Chraibi, the only woman from the Middle East and North Africa on the official Paris Haute Couture Week schedule flew her latest collection to the UAE on Monday for a preview at Dubai Fashion Week.

Her line, situated in Rabat, was established in 2012 and was among the five Arab-owned labels that debuted on the Paris Haute Couture Week runway in January. The Saudi Arabia-led Ashi Studio label, based in Paris, and designers Georges Hobeika, Elie Saab, and Zuhair Murad from Lebanon completed the list.

The highly sought-after official calendar also featured famous brands like Giorgio Armani Prive, Chanel, Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Schiaparelli.

Chraibi told the media that she is aware of her responsibilities as the only woman from the Middle East and North Africa to be included on the hallowed list. She made this statement onstage at her presentation in Dubai. Chraibi is renowned for drawing inspiration from her native nation, and her Dubai Design District show reflected this mindset.

Rich gold and bronze accents contrasted with coppery browns, blush tones, and deep, dark corals in a collection that showcased beading reminiscent of stratified rock formations. The opening look featured an oversized coat inspired by the Tinmel Mosque's destroyed columns.
