We introduce you to Agape Treatment Center. They are Behavioral Healthcare Company based in Fort Lauderdale Florida and they are a forward-thinking leader in the field of behavioral healthcare. Agape offers a Day/Night, PHP, and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Fort Lauderdale that is intended to help a growing number of clients who benefit from treatment in a setting that is more regimented, nurturing, and controlled. Their original “east meets west” method of healing combines philosophy, psychology, maintenance, prevention, and therapy. By the incorporation of evidence-based treatments, a priority is given to assisting clients in leading fulfilling lives. Their curriculum covers issues related to the body’s physical, dietary, chemical, environmental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Q. What type of treatment methods does Agape Treatment Center use? 

Agape Treatment Center applies evidenced-based methods that have been proven to work and create change in re-processing, thinking, feeling, and behavior. The methods used are individually identified based on the individual needs. Some include but aren’t limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, and Emotional Regulation. Our program is designed to help individuals identify underlying core issues that have manifested as substance use and/or mental health struggles and for those who are deemed clinically appropriate, we offer Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and Rapid Resolution Therapy. We also offer Biosound Therapy as a supportive tool to calm the nervous system. Agape has a full medical team, and each individual is evaluated and assessed to ensure a proper diagnosis and medication, if necessary.

Q. How long are your rehab programs? Are they personalized to each client’s needs? 

Agape offers all levels of care for individuals struggling with substance use and/or mental health. The levels of care include Detoxification, Residential, DayNight or Partial Hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient. The average length of time spent in rehab varies on what level of care the individual is seeking or admitting into. At the detoxification level, the average stay is 7-10 days. At the residential level of care, the average stay in 14-21 days, however, it can be longer depending on the individual needs. At the DayNight or partial hospitalization level of care, the average stay is 3-45 days. Once an individual is appropriate for intensive outpatient and/or outpatient, the length of stay is generally 90 days, however, if deemed necessary it can be extended. There are several factors that determine the length of stay per level of care such as the clinical and medical necessity of the individual, insurance requirements, and the external factors per individual like family, finances, employment, place of living. Regardless of the level of care, each individual will be invited to be an active participant in their treatment planning to support personalizing to their individual needs.

Q. Do you offer long-term follow-up and aftercare services? If so, what are they? 

Agape offers a wonderful Aftercare / Alumni Program which offers long-term support and connection to the individuals who become a part of Agape. Once someone is a part of Agape, they are a part of a Forever Family. We have a team of individuals who follow-up post completion of treatment, offering support groups for Alumni as part of after-care, and we host alumni events, which is a great way for all to stay connected and share about their ongoing recovery journey and accomplishments.

Q. Do you accept insurance? If so, which insurance companies do you accept? If not, do you offer any payment plans or sliding scale fees? 

Agape offers most major health insurance plans including Tricare with specialty military and veteran centered programming. We also offer payment plans. We do our best to work with each individually to ensure help is available.

Q. What kind of activities do you use to promote and encourage your members’ wellbeing?

At Agape, we believe strongly in the connection of mind, body, and spirit. We want our guests to have access to activities that support their overall healing and return to wellness. Our activities include but aren’t limited to exercise through the gym, boxing, and yoga, meditation, and sound healing. We offer the opportunity to be of service working with foster children and we are a part of an animal farm, where our guests have the space to connect with nature and animals that have been rescued. We also offer outside meetings through Alcoholics anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous and church. We have beach and park days, as well as other sober, fun activities like bowling, the movies, and mini golfing.

Q. What programs are in place to help your members build connections and maintain a sober network after rehab?

We have our Aftercare / Alumni Program, and we encourage our community to build sober support through Alcoholics anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, or another Anonymous Program. Agape is partnered with Pathways2Work, which is a free program that supports individuals securing employment in the state of Florida. Our team does an excellent job at building connection, and we host Alumni events which have been proven to be a great tool that supports our guests maintaining their sobriety. We also offer services at the lower levels of care, and the ongoing support of therapy, has helped to foster ongoing connection.

George Mavrookas was born and raised in New Jersey and has been an entrepreneur from the start.

He grew up in the kitchen as his family is in the restaurant business. George fell in love with the hospitality aspect and cares greatly about offering the best experience for people. He later obtained his MBA and then his path led him to working with individuals struggling with addiction and mental health. Agape was born and from there, it’s history. George’s heart is dedicated to being the best in the industry. He has a love for culture and is committed to creating the best working environment so his team can provide the best care. As he often says, “I will always take care of the people on my team, so they can take care of the people in need.” George is a father to an amazing young man and shares fatherhood is his greatest joy and accomplishment.
