50 Most Innovative Companies to Watch 2021
Employee relocation occurs when a company chooses to move a new or existing employee from one location to another, and will often entice them with certain benefits to help make the move smoother and more affordable. The reasons for relocating an employee can include opening a new location, filling an open position in another location, career development, and more.
Employee relocation, also known as global mobility and corporate relocation, is an important task that allows employers to remain competitive in their search for top talent. The relocation industry exists to help you manage and move your best and brightest talent to wherever they need to be in order to increase personal performance and company revenue.
We introduce you to ARC Relocation and bring forth the history of its establishment. William M. Mulholland, SCRP, GMS, graduated in 2000 from George Mason University and started working with “The Associates Relocation” while they were still involved in the business; The Associates was one among the biggest relocation firms across the globe. William teamed up with them for five years and understood everything about employee relocation industry.
William witnessed many dearths in the industry and scope for innovation, rolled out new products and services. He went to his managers at The Associates to give out ideas; it was unfortunate that the ideas were not welcomed which ultimately led to a decision of starting a company of his own.
One of the chief ideas when starting ARC was to roll out a “realtor rebate program” for relocating transferees. Realtor Rebate programs were common with Military members of USAA (via the “Buyer’s Advantage Program”) but had not yet hit the Federal Law Enforcement community. The incentive of a cash back rebate after closing (simply for using a realtor in the network) would quickly increase the use of the broker network and would also lead to more organic business through “word of mouth” referrals. William started ARC with a small loan. Within 2 months the company was cash flow positive and within 4 months the loan was paid back.
The company strictly follows the principles which are inspiration, innovation and hard work all remain company core values to this day. At present, ARC is offering the most advanced proprietary technology in the relocation industry and bringing transparency and efficiency to the relocation process. ARC is dedicated to constantly improving and evolving and is dedicated to bringing its clients and customers new options, products and resources!
Years ago, at ARC, the team realized that “one size fits one”. For instance, at the client level, ARC strives to become an extension of its clients both from a program perspective, but also at the cultural level. ARC Relocation learns and adapts to its clients’ requirements, processes, procedures and preferences. Being seen as an extension of its client’s HR departments allows the firm to deliver the relocating employees that same company feel with its services, advocating and caring for them throughout the process. The organization treats each dollar spent as if it is its own and ensures that its client’s costs and programs are fully considered in every transaction.
From relocating transferee perspective, in 2004 ARC developed and coined the term SPOC (Single Point of Contact). ARC was the first to embrace this model in the relocation industry. Under SPOC, ARC designates one relocation counselor who will serve as the main point of contact for relocation services to be provided to the client. Although the relocation counselor at ARC has an entire team internally supporting them, they act as a Single Point of Contact for the firm’s clients’ transferees. Not only does this model allow for efficiency in communication but also embraces its initiative to deliver a custom relocation plan based on the individual’s unique situation. Clients’ employees will have a Single Point of Contact to manage their relocation to assist with all administrative services and associated deliverables, throughout the entire relocation process. All of the organization’s relocation management practices are designed to abide by and be in accordance with the client’s relocation policy. Additionally, ARC fosters the philosophy of a smaller relocation counselor “caseload” while it’s certified and experienced personnel manage the entire relocation process from start to finish. This allows its relocation counselors to “own the process” and ensure a white-glove service at a discount price!
There are many perks to using ARC Relocation for a home buyout program. Most importantly it is the fact that, while following the IRS guidelines to tax protect the transaction, ARC offers options. ARC sets up a GBO program to fit the client and transferee needs. This dedication to offer options, benchmark best practices and collaborate leads to ARC’s industry leading customer service scores. It manages each and every home as if it is one of its own assets, protecting the interests of both the relocation employee and its customer clients.
ARC has a vast temporary housing network around the world. Once again ARC is embracing technology to bring transparency and efficiency to temporary housing solutions. At the macro level, ARC has supply chain agreements with its providers to offer the highest level of service to its customers. On a micro level, ARC’s proprietary technology allows ARC to identify the “on the ground” providers, options and pricing instantly and present these options to its end customers in an organized format. This includes property specifications such as cleanliness, location, and security, amenities offered and transferee customer service ratings.
Through ARC’S Single Point of Contact model, the ARC Counselor is the direct contact responsible for working with its temporary housing providers, and relocating transferees to ensure each and every need of the relocating family is met.
In keeping with its theme, ARC makes a complex event efficient. ARC says, “We leverage our industry leading expertise, experience, technology and personalized service for a blended consulting service product. ARC provides all of the services to support our client’s global mobility program, both employees moving intra country, as well as, around the globe.” From a global relocation perspective, ARC supports with the disposition at origin, destination country housing, household goods shipments and all applicable immigration, settling-in and tax services.
