Interview Highlights

Q. What sparked the creation of Armed Force Pest Control, and how has the company transformed and grown since its inception?

A long history in pest control and a desire to enhance the services provided led to the establishment of Armed Force Pest Control in 2002 in Lake County, CA. The company now extends its services to seven counties, including Lake, Napa, Mendocino, Sonoma, Colusa, Sutter, and Yuba Counties. Armed Force Pest Control has evolved from a single-service truck and one employee to a dynamic team of 12 individuals operating 10 active service trucks daily. To better cater to the diverse needs of our customers, we have expanded our scope of services to include wood-destroying organisms, aquatic weed control, attic and crawl space clean-outs, and vapor barrier installations, in addition to the original services initially offered.

Q. Can you provide an overview of the range of pest control services that Armed Force Pest Control offers to its clients?

Armed Force Pest Control offers a comprehensive suite of pest control services designed to address a wide range of client needs. The services encompass general pest control, involving targeted spraying for spiders, ants, and other ground-crawling insects. Additionally, the company provides cockroach clean-outs, removal and exclusion services for rodents, bats, birds, and wildlife, as well as specialized treatments for carpenter ants. Armed Force Pest Control is also equipped to handle inspections, treatments, and damage repairs related to termites and other wood-destroying organisms.

Armed Force Pest Control excels in yellow jacket management, offering services such as baiting, nest removal, and the manufacturing and sales of yellow jacket bait bottles. The company also provides solutions for wasp control, bed bug treatments using both heat and conventional methods, and tree spraying with fertilization.

Q. What sets Armed Force Pest Control’s Yellow Jacket Control product apart from traditional yellow jacket traps, and how does the baiting system contribute to its effectiveness?

Armed Force Pest Control’s Yellow Jacket Control product distinguishes itself from traditional yellow jacket traps through its innovative baiting system. Unlike conventional traps that primarily capture adult yellow jackets, our system utilizes an insecticide-infused bait, typically cat food, placed in effective and reusable bait bottles. This strategic approach allows adult worker yellow jackets to enter the bottle, retrieve the bait, exit, and return to the nest to feed the “meat” to developing larvae.

The key to our system’s effectiveness lies in the insecticide mixed into the bait. This formulation grants adult yellow jackets sufficient time to return to the nest and distribute the bait before succumbing to the insecticide. Consequently, this process targets not only the adult workers but also eliminates undeveloped larvae and other members of the colony. The result is the comprehensive eradication of the entire yellow jacket colony before the majority have an opportunity to emerge. We provide our customers with a robust money-back guarantee. When used as recommended by us or as directed, if you experience a yellow jacket infestation while baiting is in place, the service is on us. That’s just how well it works.

Q. How user-friendly is the application process for deploying the patent-pending Yellow Jacket Control product? Could you elaborate on the ease of integration of this product into pest control services provided by Armed Force Pest Control?

The bottles are designed for ease of use and safety for both service professionals and homeowners alike. It’s as simple as mixing an approved insecticide, such as Onslaught, with a suitable bait, like fish-flavored cat food or a similar product, and spooning approximately two tablespoons of the mixed bait into the bottle. Armed Force Pest Control’s Total Elimination Yellow Jacket Bait Bottles are constructed with moisture-resistant “pop tops” that make a distinct popping sound when snapped closed, ensuring the bottle is tightly sealed and providing an additional measure of safety.

Opaque color bottles are sunlight-blocking, preventing them from becoming brittle and cracking, and maintaining the freshness of the bait inside for a longer duration. Our bottles are proudly made in the U.S.A., certified child-resistant, and meet the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) protocol and standards, fulfilling the requirements of the Poison Prevention Act. The durable material of our bottles allows for repeated use year after year, making them highly economical.

Q. Yellow jackets are noted to play an important role in the ecosystem. How does Armed Force Pest Control balance the need for pest control with environmental considerations, especially when dealing with a significant species like yellow jackets?

Armed Force Pest Control recognizes the vital role yellow jackets play in the ecosystem while also addressing the need for pest control. When dealing with significant species like yellow jackets, our approach is twofold. We prioritize pest control methods that specifically target yellow jackets while minimizing impact on non-targeted beneficial species like honey bees. Honey bees are not affected by yellow jacket baiting due to their dietary differences; they do not consume meat and are thus not attracted to the bait used for yellow jackets. This allows us to effectively manage yellow jacket populations without posing a threat to honey bees, crucial pollinators essential for the environment.

Yellow jackets, known for their aggressive nature and potential harm through stings, require careful management to ensure the safety of individuals and environments where they pose a risk. Our methods focus on strategic control measures that limit harm to non-targeted species and aim to preserve ecological balance while addressing the necessity for pest control.

Q. How do you envision the role of your Yellow Jacket Control product evolving in the future, and are there any new features or enhancements in the pipeline?

The Yellow Jacket Baiting service is a valuable offering for any residential or commercial account seeking a yellow jacket-free environment. From wineries and parks to schools and outdoor venues, especially those serving food, this service provides immense benefits. Armed Force Pest Control takes pride in delivering an effective solution for yellow jacket control, providing not only satisfaction to our customers but also offering pest control professionals a product that enhances customer loyalty and generates recurring revenue.
