CallingDr - A complete telemedicine and mobile health platform

In the past few decades, there have been a lot of advances in the technical field. Connected devices have made our lives easier. But there is still a lot of improvements to be made in the medical field. The founder of CallingDr, Adnan Malik in 2017 faced a similar issue where his child fell sick in rainy weather. He couldn’t take the child out to the doctor for a visit and then the urgent need of starting CallingDr came into his mind. He wished of an app that could solve the problem of the need to visit doctors in tough times like natural disasters or any other emergency.

He has a technical background and has previously worked with Seagate, Veritas, and Symantec and his wife has a medical background. Together they talked about telehealth and how it could address the U.S healthcare industries growing lists of problems. They wanted CallingDr to be one of the most user-friendly and cost-effective products on the market, could make a positive impact in the communities. They are also expanding the company with a vision to increase access to medical care when needed enabling healthcare professions to connect with patients via virtual visits regardless of geographical location.

CallingDr’s secured solutions for cloud

CallingDr is a telemedicine and mobile health platform for patient-doctor video consulting and remote patient monitoring. The CallingDr platform is on a secure HIPAA and HITECH compliant cloud. This helps patients connect to doctors from anywhere and anytime. It also provides the flexibility to use either a web client or a smartphone app to connect. For example, a doctor can be on a laptop and the patient can be on an iPad, etc. They pay special attention to patient health information security and make sure that all the data communicated from end-to-end is encrypted as well as secure.

CallingDr’s telemedicine platform.

CallingDr telemedicine and mobile health platform is a device-independent solution that runs on computers, iOS devices, and Android devices. CallingDr enhances the traditional face to face visit. It offers doctors the flexibility and convenience of seeing patients remotely for follow up visits, well visits, and sick visits. CallingDr improves patient engagement and satisfaction while they enjoy the benefits of not taking time off work, commuting to a doctor’s visit, and being restricted to one location. CallingDr reduces health costs, improves healthcare outcomes, and increases satisfaction for both the patient and the healthcare provider.

Working of VisitingDr

“VisitingDr” is a charge capture app for doctors working in the hospital. This prevents the professional from losing charges and potential revenue as there is a capability to record a charge and submit to the back office for billing purposes. The main advantage of using this app is that doctor does not have to write down charges and later fax/email to the back-office, and can transmit the data in real-time to their billing department.

CallingDr and the COVID-19

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC urged healthcare providers to implement telehealth services as a tool to reduce the spread of infection. CallingDr is the first line of defense. During the virtual visit the healthcare professional screens, assess, and diagnoses patients. CallingDr can limit exposure to infection by keeping sick individuals away from others by keeping them at home and not exposing others including health professions during this pandemic. Plus patients can continue to receive chronic disease management and rehab therapy using CallingDr for a virtual consult and remote monitoring services. Many of the larger healthcare systems have implemented telehealth services. CallingDr has focused on helping community-based doctor offices to transition smoothly to offer telehealth services.

Bridging the gap between doctor and patients

When CallingDr was started, it focused on helping the local communities after the devastation caused by a hurricane. They provided a tool to continue communication between doctor and patient. Initially, as with many disruptive innovations in healthcare, they faced challenges as healthcare professionals were reluctant to adopt telemedicine. They have a very user-friendly app, so the patients were quick to understand how to utilize virtual visits especially as they can use their own smart devices so there is less user error. Today with COVID-19 healthcare professionals and patients are quickly appreciating the advantages offered by CallingDr including access to specialists, no transportation time, no need to take time off work, easier access to specialists, less time in the waiting room, and less chance of catching a new illness.
