CyberX: Protect Your People, Production & Profits

Digital transformation is the key as we move forward. For the industries, greater efficiencies and productivity are being driven by IoT, which has brought forth Industry 4.0. But boards and management teams are increasingly concerned about the financial and liability risk resulting from the deployment of massive numbers of connected IoT and OT devices. Adversaries are targeting this expanded attack surface and causing substantial corporate impact, including safety and environmental incidents, costly production downtime, and theft of sensitive intellectual property. Microsoft-owned CyberX is changing this through its innovative technology and practical enterprise-grade cybersecurity for defending critical infrastructure in any environment. They have partnered with the best technology innovators at present, including Palo Alto Networks, IBM Security, CyberArk, and global solution providers and MSSPs like Optiv Security, DXC Technologies, and Deutsche-Telekom.

A Microsoft Company

The company was founded in 2013 by the co-founding duo Omer Schneider and Nir Giller. Within seven years, the company grew tremendously to become the partner for the world’s largest organizations for adopting IoT/OT security platform to secure their facilities worldwide. It leverages patented IoT/OT-aware behavioral analytics. The company’s agentless technology deploys within minutes to deliver deep visibility into IoT/OT risk, including asset discovery, vulnerability management, and continuous threat monitoring with zero impact due to its passive Network Traffic Analysis (NTA) approach.

CyberX has shown unreal potential for growth, and this brought the tech behemoth, Microsoft, to its doors. The tech giant acquired CyberX for an undisclosed amount in June 2020. “Nir and I founded CyberX with the goal of delivering a scalable solution that would be easy to deploy and reduce risk for enterprises worldwide,” said Omer Schneider, co-founder and CEO of CyberX. “We’re thankful to our loyal customers and partners as well as to our dedicated employees whose innovation and hard work made it possible for us to reach this important milestone, and also to our investors for their ongoing support.”

Ahead of the acquisition, the company brought in many accolades. Most recently, the CyberX platform was recognized as the Best SCADA Security Solution in the Trust Awards category at the 2020 SC Awards in San Francisco. Nir Giller, co-founder, GM International, and CTO of CyberX commented, “By joining forces with Microsoft, we will rapidly scale our business and technology to securely enable digital transformation for many more organizations.”

For Microsoft, it is a major move as it looks to contribute more in the IoT space. The CyberX acquisition will complement the existing Azure IoT security capabilities. The CyberX platform extends to existing devices, including those used in industrial IoT, Operational Technology, and infrastructure scenarios. With CyberX, customers can discover their existing IoT assets and both manage and improve the security posture of those devices.

Enterprise-Grade Cybersecurity

Industrial cybersecurity is of the essence as we usher in Industry 4.0. The traditional cybersecurity infrastructure is no more adequate to protect the network of devices that are involved in the industrial setting. CyberX is the industrial cybersecurity platform built by blue-team cyber-experts with a proven track record defending critical national infrastructure.

CyberX was the first to develop a security monitoring platform with ICS-aware self-learning and behavioral analytics; the first with passive ICS vulnerability assessments and automated threat modeling; the first native ICS threat monitoring app for corporate SIEMs; the first to integrate with Palo Alto Networks’ App Framework; and the first cloud-based service for identifying and detonating ICS malware.

The CyberX platform comes ready to use out of the box, deploys in less than an hour as a physical or virtual appliance. But IT/OT security is not “one-size-fits-all,” so, CyberX provides 24×7 remote support combined with onsite support services. It also partners with global service providers to customize implementations for the specific needs of the industries.

The Visionary

Omer Schneider, CEO and Co-Founder

Before co-founding CyberX, he led a blue team cybersecurity unit tasked with protecting critical national infrastructure, where he headed day-to-day cybersecurity operations and managed the development and acquisition of security technologies across all layers of the security stack. He was also invited to be a member of his country’s national cybersecurity initiative, and is a contributing member of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC). He holds a BSc. in Computer Engineering from the Technion Institute and an MBA degree from Tel Aviv University Business School.

“Only CyberX gives you 100% visibility into all unmanaged IoT and ICS devices, across both IT and OT. And because it’s agentless, it’s also scalable and easy to deploy.”

“We take industrial cybersecurity defense seriously, as if our lives depend on it. Because it does.”

“The CyberX platform comes ready to use out of the box, deployed in less than an hour as a physical or virtual appliance.”
