Freightos creates incredible technology that makes global trade frictionless for companies around the world

Exporters, importers and other companies often require efficient, safe and cost-effective transportation of their merchandise. However, most of them do not have access to private shipping arrangements, and have to hire freight forwarding services. The freight forwarding industry is a dominant export and import transportation service provider for companies within the EU. Slovakia, Spain and Italy are some of the notable examples of countries in which the industry is substantially developed. The $500 billion global freight market transports nearly everything we eat, wear and use around the world. Unfortunately, international shipping remains almost completely offline. Which means that our everyday products cost more, and arrive later, than they should. Freightos® is the digital booking platform for international shipping. Freightos was inspired by how digitalization improved passenger travel and retail, and are bringing the same benefits to global trade. Faster, more cost-effective, and reliable international shipments, help to expand trade between the people of the world. Using a combination of breakthrough technology, data, and a platform that spans thousands of  global logistics providers, importers, airlines, ocean liners, and leading tech players, the Freightos Group business units –  Freightos.com, WebCargo, and Freightos Data – are making global trade smoother. With thousands of importers and exporters on one platform, every customer gains the bulk-buying power typically reserved for high-volume importers. When logistics providers compete for your business, you pay less. The marketplace model keeps service levels exceptional, with reviews left by importers and internal data to track performance. Nearly 40% of importers only use one logistics provider, which means they're likely missing out on the best available pricing or lane/mode. Freightos gives you the freedom to switch between logistics providers, pairing you with the best one for all of your shipments. No matter which provider you use, you get shipment tracking, documentation management, credit, and support in one place.

Making global trade frictionless

Since Freightos integrates directly with logistics providers, you get on-demand updates at every stage. Online messaging, around the clock support and proactive automated exception management means that you stay in the know. No more tracking multiple shipments in different forwarder platforms or, worse, in an Excel spreadsheet that you need to keep updated. Better shipment management doesn’t stop there. When it comes to freight, ship happens. Our providers have strict Service Level Agreements to resolve any issue and using a combination of technology and humans, we make sure they follow through. The Freightos marketplace ecosystem sees over one million monthly searches, thousands of shipments, and tens of millions of pricing updates. Freightos puts that data to work by providing instant visibility into individual shipment prices, transit time, and forwarder ratings. To help you understand the industry, Freightos provides in-depth tools, like the world's only daily container freight index and lane analysis reports. Marketplaces only work when both buyers and sellers are happy. Freightos’ providers stick with the company because they bring them business at scale while providing the infrastructure to manage shipments easily. By providing first-line support, Freightos reduces support costs. By guaranteeing payment, the company remove the guesswork. In other words, Freightos providers get more business with fewer costs, and they pass those savings on.

Ocean Freight

Ocean freight transport is the shipping of goods by sea via shipping containers. Ocean freight is the most common mode of transport that importers and exporters use. In fact, a full 90% of everything is shipped by ocean freight and sea freight. The other international freight transport modes (courier, standard air freight, express air freight) are all faster, but they are also more expensive. Smaller shipments, and products with a high value, generally go by these other modes. If ocean freight is too slow, but air freight is too pricey, some freight forwarders are now offering a relatively new service, often called expedited freight. This service is often nearly as quick as air freight, but it costs more like ocean freight. It works by streamlining ocean freight processes and only tying in with the faster ocean services and premium trucking services. Ocean and sea freight break down to two further options: a full container load (FCL) and a less than container load (LCL). With LCL, several shipments are packed into one container. This means more work for the forwarder, there’s extra paperwork involved, as well as the physical work of consolidating various shipments into a container before the main transit and de-consolidating the shipments at the other end.
