Q. Tell us what inspired the creation of Hydromax USA.

Hydromax USA was founded in 2003 in Evansville, IN. The purpose was focused at that time in the wastewater infrastructure and the need for municipalities to be compliant with government standards and orders. HUSA has grown over time to now include the water and natural gas providers with technology enabled solutions.

Q. Given that Hydromax USA is a professional data collection services firm, how uniquely does it address its clients’ pain points?

We use the client data to help them build integrated systems of record and also to quickly and reliably identify any potential hazards to their infrastructure. As AI & ML tools are developed both in house and externally, we apply this knowledge to improve our data stream back to the customer every day.

Q. What technologies does Hydromax utilize to empower the contractors, engineers, and utility owners? And how frequently does the company adopt new technologies?

We pride ourselves on innovation in all our markets. Our teams utilize the latest technology and highest accuracy GIS platforms to help our customers ensure safety and reliability in their systems.

Our mission is simple… “understand the present and protect the future.” Our services not only help to ensure safe and reliable delivery of natural gas and water, we also are helping our customers’ ESG efforts, by helping to locate and eliminate fugitive methane emissions. Sustainability and making our communities better is a large part of our purpose.

Q. ‘With advanced data collection methods and extensive QA/QC procedures, Hydromax confidently assures high-quality data.’ How do you interpret this further?

We take extra measures, above industry standards to partner with service and energy providers to ensure accuracy and safety. The quality of our data can save lives and help sustainability efforts in any community.

Q. Where do you stand as a company in the current market landscape? And what are you doing to stay ahead of the curve?

We were founded around innovation and people. We have some of the best and smartest people on the HUSA team, and our diversity of thought and background, coming from the very industries we serve, keeps us on the forefront.

Q. Will Hydromax be expanding, bringing on any new services that we should be aware of?

Absolutely. This fall, we will be announcing new services and technology deployments for our existing customers, as well as new partners we hope to engage.

Q. About your plans, where do you think Hydromax will be in five years?

Not only HUSA, but the entire energy and water industry is transforming. We will be partnered with leaders in all our markets to help them answer the expectations of regulators and the public they serve.

Q. Is there anything else you want us to highlight that we might have missed?

We have fantastic team members here at Hydromax USA, who are committed to our customers and communities to ensure safe and reliable energy and drinking water to their homes and businesses. It’s a space I and my team are very passionate about.

Meet the ingenuous persona

Jon Smith is the CEO of Hydromax USA, a leading national provider of comprehensive testing and inspection services for gas, water, and wastewater providers. He joined Hydromax USA just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and quickly pivoted the company commercially and in cost structure to reduce risk, perform as an essential service for customers and deliver results. Jon rapidly leveraged a strategy of innovative technology & solutions for customers, positioning Hydromax USA to uniquely integrate state-of-the-art technologies to gather and process high quality data into actionable insights from the data center to the field. Aging and improperly installed subsurface infrastructure in underground utilities results in significantly underperforming assets and presents a public safety situation.

Jon was previously President, Mobile Pipeline, for Hexagon Lincoln, LLC, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Prior to joining Hexagon, he was Vice President & General Manager, Smart Energy Gas Americas, for Honeywell International, leading the gas metering and transmission division of the Americas. Also, he has held leadership roles with Ford Motor Company, Johnson Electric, Federal-Mogul, Associated Materials, Inc., and has led international businesses in Latin America, Asia, and Europe.

Jon is a retired Naval Officer with over 20 years of leadership experience throughout his service in the U.S. armed forces. His personal commendations include the Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy Commendation Medals, Navy Achievement Medal and numerous unit and campaign awards.
