At CIO Bulletin, we had the honor of interviewing Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang, the Chairman and CEO of LongServing Technology Co., Ltd. During our conversation, he shared profound insights into how his company, driven by an unwavering belief in the transformative power of science, has emerged as a catalyst of innovation—delivering solutions that revolutionize industries and profoundly enhance lives.

Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang: A Visionary Polymath Leading the Crossroads of Innovation, Art, and Science

The story of LongServing Technology Co., Ltd. begins with the remarkable vision of its founder, Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang, whose passion for science, art, and innovation has shaped the company’s journey. Dr. Fang’s belief that science and technology can transform lives lies at the core of LongServing’s mission, driving advancements that span industries and redefine possibilities.

Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang’s path to founding LongServing is as unique as the innovations he has introduced to the world. Reflecting on his inspirations, he draws parallels with the life of Leonardo da Vinci, the Renaissance icon known for his groundbreaking designs and artistic brilliance. “Da Vinci ever served under religious figures, and he is also the famous creator of the Mona Lisa. His manuscripts reveal many futuristic technological designs, such as helicopters and UFO-shaped tanks. His life showed a deep interest in technology, art, and even medicine,” Dr. Fang explains.

This blend of artistic creativity and technical mastery resonated deeply with Dr. Fang. In today’s highly specialized world, crossing boundaries between disciplines is no small feat, yet it is the foundation of his work. “In fact, during the Italian Renaissance, education, court painting, and even technological research were all closely tied to religion, which were not particularly special in that era. However, the specialization of technology has become more detailed in today's world, and inventions that cross industries and categories often seem incredible now,” he adds.

The journey of LongServing is a testament to this cross-disciplinary approach. From the development of advanced cloud technologies and password lock systems to cutting-edge photonic quantum computing chips and synthetic jadeite indistinguishable from natural gemstones, Dr. Fang’s inventions span industries and defy conventional boundaries. “Just like my inventions, from the firewall and cloud technique invention, the firewall and password lock invention to the optical quantum computing chip, and even multi-bit photonic quantum computing technology and man-made jadeite, these cross-field and cross-type inventions are indeed more difficult and astonishing,” he shares.

Dr. Fang’s creativity and drive come from a deep connection to his own history and beliefs. A certified Dharma King in Tibetan Buddhism and a true artist at heart, he views his work as a reflection of his soul. “When my paintings were discovered by Western friends, I was compared to da Vinci. One reason is that we seem to project our souls into our paintings, making every painting vivid and appealing to people (Fig. 1, 2, and 3). I believe my creations and inventions are related to my past life memories. Through practice, I can recall my past life, where I was an alien king with seven or eight PhDs in technology. This past life energy fuels my immense inventive power in this life,” he says.

This connection, he believes, mirrors the experiences of other great minds in history. “I believe da Vinci had a similar experience, as did Nikola Tesla, the father of modern alternating current. We all have restless souls that often foresee the outcomes of our inventions before they come to fruition, significantly reducing our development time. This supernatural ability is a continuous source of my creativity.” Dr. Fang explains.

Redefining Luxury and Bringing Imperial Green Jadeite to Everyone

Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang has always been captivated by the unparalleled allure of imperial green jadeite. Describing its beauty, he says, “The best imperial green jadeite is like a drop of water falling on the green veins of leaves. Within its dense green color, you can see delicate crystals resembling cotton-like fibers emerging from the center of the gemstone.” It was this enchanting quality that first inspired his passion for jadeite, transforming him from an admirer to an innovator.

Dr. Fang's journey into the world of jadeite began years ago as a jadeite enthusiast. His fascination grew into a pursuit to create synthetic versions of this coveted gemstone, especially the rare imperial green variety, which is often locked away in safes or displayed behind cold glass windows in auction houses like Sotheby’s. These exquisite pieces are priced astronomically, with cabochon-sized natural jadeite valued at over $3 million USD, making them unattainable for most collectors.

Fueled by the rarity and inaccessibility of natural jadeite, Dr. Fang directed his efforts into developing a groundbreaking alternative: man-made synthetic jadeite. The company’s first major showcase at the JMA Hong Kong International Jewelry Show 2024 marked a pivotal moment. While traditional jadeite booths allowed visitors only to glimpse their pieces from afar, LongServing’s booth was a hub of activity, with eager visitors taking photos and marveling at the synthetic creations. Experts tested the synthetic jadeite using advanced tools like Raman spectroscopy and were astonished by the unique crystal inclusions, described as flowers blooming exclusively for their destined admirers.

Dr. Fang acknowledges the complexities of creating synthetic jadeite that mirrors the quality of natural gemstones. “Even under the most stringent controlled environment mimicking nature, growing synthetic jadeite in the lab to reach such imperial green level remains rare and precious.” By blending albite jade and pyroxene jade—components or symbiotic minerals of natural jadeite—LongServing preserves the gemstone’s aesthetic, hardness, and luster while slightly adjusting its composition to introduce a new variety to the market.

Despite the initial skepticism, LongServing has effectively positioned synthetic jadeite as a viable and desirable alternative to its natural counterpart. Dr. Fang explains the company’s philosophy: “Good jadeite speaks for itself without needing an introduction.” He envisions a world where synthetic jadeite can be owned and appreciated, not hidden away in safes. By pricing their products competitively and maintaining exclusivity in production, LongServing ensures that their creations remain both affordable and investment-worthy.

Unlike synthetic diamonds, which face fierce competition, LongServing’s synthetic jadeite is the sole product of its kind in the world. The company’s advanced technology, unmatched by even leading global research institutions, guarantees control over the market. Dr. Fang emphasizes the significance of this innovation: “In the foreseeable future, the price of synthetic jadeite can naturally rise, and its price can be fully controlled by our company.”

The global jadeite market faces dwindling natural resources, particularly in Myanmar, where jadeite mining once contributed nearly $31 billion—half the country's GDP. This scarcity creates an urgent need for alternatives. LongServing’s synthetic jadeite not only fills this gap but also provides Western buyers—who often miss out on high-grade jadeite—with the opportunity to appreciate and acquire the gemstone.

Dr. Fang’s unwavering dedication and artistic passion have turned LongServing’s synthetic jadeite into more than just a technological feat; it is a bridge connecting the timeless beauty of jadeite with a new generation of admirers and collectors worldwide.

A Revolutionary Leap in Jadeite Craftsmanship

LongServing has redefined the jadeite industry with its high-class synthetic creations, achieving unmatched transparency and the iconic Imperial Green color that rivals, and in some respects surpasses, natural jadeite. The company’s laboratory-grown jadeite, developed under precise high-temperature conditions, represents a perfect blend of art and science. This groundbreaking innovation has captivated the jewelry industry and redefined the standards of jadeite craftsmanship.

Dr. Fang, the visionary behind this transformative technology, has made significant strides in replicating and enhancing the crystal structure of jadeite. The stunning results are captured in Figures 4 through 9:

  • Figure 4: Highlights an imperial green synthetic jadeite ore, crafted in LongServing’s lab, with breathtaking transparency and a vibrant green hue.
  • Figure 5: Shows the cotton-like fiber crystal structure unique to LongServing’s synthetic jadeite, reflecting its authenticity and craftsmanship.
  • Figure 6: Features a cabochon necklace made with synthetic jadeite, showcasing the high-class "Glass Type" quality and a striking green tone.
  • Figure 7: Displays a cabochon ring with the same superior quality and vivid green brilliance.
  • Figure 8: Captures another exquisite cabochon necklace, illustrating the consistency of LongServing’s expertise.
  • Figures 9A and 9B: Compare a natural imperial green jadeite cabochon ring (9a) with LongServing’s synthetic version (9b). The natural jadeite exhibits black cotton-like crystal inclusions due to chromium infiltrating the crystal lattice gaps, whereas the synthetic jadeite is flawlessly transparent with a uniformly integrated chromium structure.

The comparison between natural and synthetic jadeite highlights the technological superiority of LongServing’s innovation. Natural jadeite often has dark spots in its cotton-like crystal structures, caused by uneven chromium infiltration. In contrast, LongServing’s lab-grown jadeite achieves a perfect balance of transparency and color by uniformly integrating chromium during the manufacturing process.

Dr. Fang elaborates on this remarkable breakthrough:

"Through our innovative laboratory manufacturing process, we have successfully eliminated the dark spots seen in natural jadeite. By uniformly integrating chromium at high temperatures, we achieve a perfect blend of color and transparency, resulting in synthetic jadeite that not only rivals but often surpasses natural jadeite in quality."

LongServing’s achievements extend beyond replication. The company has introduced synthetic jadeite with deep green hues and unparalleled transparency—qualities that are extraordinarily rare in nature. Instrumental analysis confirms that the composition of this synthetic jadeite is pyroxene mineral, identical to natural jadeite, yet enhanced to achieve exceptional results.

Blending Art and Technology: Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang’s Vision for Perfection

As both an artist and a scientist, Dr. Ko-Cheng Fang believes that true innovation comes from the perfect balance between creativity and technical expertise. He explains that modern technological advancements cannot create truly remarkable products without the emotional touch of art. Dr. Fang draws parallels between sports cars—sleek, powerful, and admired by many—and the seamless integration of art and technology. Just as luxury sports cars captivate audiences with their design and engine sound, he argues that technology must combine with the passion of art to touch people’s hearts. This belief is at the core of LongServing Technology. For him, art and technology are closely intertwined, much like the modern craftsmanship found in sports cars or luxury watches. It’s this perfect balance of art and engineering that evokes deep admiration from those who experience it.

Dr. Fang shares that his dedication to aesthetics shapes every aspect of LongServing’s work, from the synthetic jadeite his company creates to the design of its exhibition hall. “Only the pursuit of perfection and the spirit of being intolerant of flaws can inspire me to challenge the best imperial green variety of jadeite,” he states. “This miraculous opportunity created by nature has been successfully replicated by us in the laboratory.”

LongServing’s commitment to perfection doesn’t stop with jadeite. Dr. Fang also speaks about his work in artificial intelligence (AI), noting that the current state of AI, built on binary systems, limits its potential. He envisions a future where AI robots operate at a level closer to living creatures, with the ability to think and learn independently. To overcome these limitations, Dr. Fang designed a multi-bit optical quantum computing chip—capable of high-speed processing and autonomous learning—similar to the power systems that make sports cars truly exceptional. His work in AI reflects the same passion for perfection that drives his company’s innovations.

“Like the most beautiful sports car, if it is not equipped with a powerful power system, it is not perfect at all. We strive for perfection! It is my DNA that created LongServing Technology, which combined my passion for technology and art!” Dr. Fang extols.

The market demand for jadeite is significant, with an annual value of between $30 billion and $40 billion—roughly half of the GDP of Myanmar. With natural jadeite mines depleting, this presents a crucial opportunity for LongServing to fill the gap in the market. Dr. Fang explains, “Increasing production capacity is not a problem. The key is to guide production capacity with market demand.” His strategy includes expanding the recruitment of sales agents through online sales and pre-orders, with the eventual plan to open flagship stores. This approach will enable LongServing to rapidly bring its products to the global market and establish itself as a leader in both the artificial jadeite and AI industries.

LongServing Technology’s Commitment to Innovation, Sustainability, and Excellence

LongServing Technology has emerged as a trailblazer in innovation, consistently pushing the boundaries of what is possible while adhering to sustainable and ethical practices. With a robust portfolio of patents and a focus on revolutionary technologies, the company is not just competing but setting new benchmarks in multiple industries, including synthetic jadeite production and photonic quantum semiconductors.

Dr. Fang, the visionary leader behind LongServing Technology, has ensured the company remains at the forefront of technological advancement. By building a global patent portfolio and continuously investing in research and development, LongServing has secured a competitive edge. Two of Dr. Fang’s most groundbreaking patents, the photonic quantum chip and a method for creating nanoscale/picoscale circuit patterns for IC chips, have been patented across 20-30 major economies, including the United States, China, the European Union, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea.

This strategic foresight is complemented by a fully autonomous design and manufacturing supply chain for synthetic jadeite production. As Dr. Fang explains, this allows LongServing to adapt flexibly to market demands:

"As market orders expand, we will be able to adjust production capacity flexibly. Now it is the time to enter the market."

LongServing’s innovations are not limited to semiconductor technology. The company has also achieved extraordinary breakthroughs in synthetic jadeite production, aligning with sustainable practices and addressing environmental concerns in an industry often criticized for its ecological impact. Unlike natural jadeite, which forms over millions of years through complex geological processes, LongServing’s synthetic jadeite replicates these conditions in the laboratory. By simulating deep-sea crust conditions with precision, the company has achieved the remarkable feat of producing synthetic jadeite with the coveted Imperial Green quality.

Dr. Fang elaborates on the difficulty and significance of this achievement:

"It took over a decade to adjust its transparency to achieve the imperial green quality. It can be said that we will not see a second competitor appear in our lifetime, and it is still unknown whether we will even see it in a few hundred years."

The company's synthetic jadeite not only matches but often surpasses natural jadeite in quality, offering transparency and color unmatched by competitors like GE, whose synthetic jadeite lacks the distinct cotton-like crystal structure of true jadeite.

In addition to its technological prowess, LongServing’s innovation extends to areas with immense societal impact, including anti-cancer drugs and anti-viral treatments. These endeavors, coupled with Dr. Fang’s ambitious vision, underline the company’s potential to redefine multiple industries.

As Dr. Fang states, "Don't underestimate this company's ambition and potential, because I am a CEO with the memory of a past life as an alien. Given the right opportunity, making our company reach Wall Street has always been a key goal of mine."
