Egnyte: One Unified Platform to Manage Your Digital Content Everywhere

In today’s hybrid and remote-first office environments, content is the most exposed data type. Egnyte’s all-in-one platform makes it simple and easy for IT to manage and control a full spectrum of content risks – from accidental data deletion, to data exfiltration, to privacy compliance and much more – all while giving business users the tools they need to work faster and smarter, from any cloud, any device, anywhere.

That’s why thousands of companies worldwide rely on Egnyte to safeguard their most valuable and sensitive information and fuel their essential business processes. Established in 2007, Egnyte transforms businesses through smarter content allowing organizations to connect, protect, and unlock value from all their content. The company's content governance platform delivers smart content collaboration and governance in the cloud or on-premises to thousands of businesses around the world even the most regulated industries.

Headquartered in Mountain View, CA, Egnyte is a privately held company. The company is backed by investors that include venture capital firms, such as Google Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, as well as technology partners, such as CenturyLink and Seagate Technology.

"The days when a company had to choose between cloud and on-premises, or between user flexibility and centralized control, are over. With Egnyte, any business can easily give its employees, customers, and partners all the benefits of anytime, anywhere file access – and real-time collaboration – while maintaining the visibility and control needed to enforce company policies and manage risk," said Vineet Jain, Chief Executive Officer of Egnyte.

Fight Back Against Ransomware

Ransomware attacks, which prey on companies’ digital files, have been increasing in scale, sophistication, and frequency since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. And, according to Egnyte’s latest Data Governance Trends Report, mid-sized businesses with 100 to 1,000 employees are struggling with ransomware the most: 66% of them reported being underprepared for an attack, as compared to 31% of larger enterprises (1,000+ employees).

Egnyte launched a new platform to tackle the menace of ransomware in October this year. Named as Ransomware Protection solution, the platform can detect more than 2,000 ransomware signatures, detect threats immediately, and automatically alert admins of the infected endpoint. New signatures are crowdsourced daily, ensuring the most up-to-date protections are available. Previously reserved only for Enterprise plan customers, Ransomware Protection is now also part of Egnyte’s entry-level Business Plan (which starts at only $20 per user per month).

“The combination of remote work scenarios, rogue cryptocurrency exchanges, and the growing sophistication of ransomware gangs have unleashed a perfect storm for ransomware threats that is wreaking havoc on small- and mid-sized businesses,” said Rajesh Ram, Co-Founder and Chief Experience Officer of Egnyte. “In this new environment, standalone file storage solutions are a dangerous lightning rod. That’s why Egnyte is now making ransomware protection standard with every one of its platform plan offerings.”

"Established in 2007, Egnyte transforms businesses through smarter content allowing organizations to connect, protect, and unlock value from all their content."

In addition to this, Egnyte has announced the addition of a Ransomware Recovery solution as part of its Enterprise package. The recovery capability allows customers to “look back” at previous file snapshots to determine at which point ransomware infected a file and restore data to that point with a single click.

Working with Travere Therapeutics

A biopharmaceutical company based out of San Diego, CA, Travere Therapeutics is a company that develops life-changing therapies for people living with rare diseases. When it transitioned to a primarily remote workforce in 2015, it needed to keep its work moving forward at the same speed.

After a thorough test of cloud-based solutions, Travere Therapeutics migrated all corporate files and private folders to Egnyte. The team chose Egnyte because the platform gave them the ability to enable a productive remote workforce while increasing data security and governance.

The solution worked and it allowed for a greater performance and productivity across a global remote workforce. Travere Therapeutics had secure collaboration with global teams and partners outside of physical offices. With Egnyte's help Travere Therapeutics had enhanced information governance and compliance support no matter where their data resides or travels.

“Egnyte allows colleagues to instantly access files on their tablets and mobiles. They’re not chained to their laptops and can work anywhere. At the same time, we don’t get any more requests for VPN access—which gives IT one less thing to manage or worry about,” said Robert Kuhn, Director, IT Infrastructure and Security, Egnyte.
