MPP Software—committed to digital transformation across industries

New and transformative technologies were rapidly entering the workplace even before the pandemic, enabling businesses to innovate and thrive in an increasingly digital world.

But then the COVID-19 pandemic happened, and what was supposed to take years had to happen in only a few months or less.

Digital transformation is imperative for all businesses, from the small to the enterprise level. That message comes out loud and clear from every keynote, panel discussion, article, or study on how businesses can remain competitive and relevant as the world becomes increasingly digital. What’s not clear to many business leaders is what digital transformation means. Is it just a catchy way to say moving to the cloud? What parts of our business strategy need to change? Do we need to design new jobs to help us create a framework for digital transformation or hire a consulting service? Is it worth it?

“Delivering disruptive solutions across diverse markets.”

Digital transformation has been vital in responding to the disruption of work and business ecosystems, and most businesses ramped up their efforts to meet this sudden change. Eight in ten organizations fast-tracked their digital transformation programs in 2020, according to computer giant Dell’s Digital Transformation Index 2020, which surveyed over 4000 business leaders worldwide. Additionally, 89% said the pandemic highlighted the need for a more scalable and agile IT environment.

Digital transformation is how companies embed technologies to drive fundamental change across their businesses. The benefits? Increased efficiency, greater business agility, and, ultimately, the unlocking of new value for employees, customers, and shareholders.

MPP Software is one of the best firms to assist your firm in its digital transformation. MPP Software is a solutions company dedicated to digital transformation across industries. Focused on PropTech, FinTech, and Energy, its solutions and advice are driving forward change in some of the world’s most multifaceted environments.

MPP Software is a privately held Canadian firm based out of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. It has a global footprint with partners operating across Canada and internationally.

The following excerpts were taken from a conversation with Colin Moreland, Founder and CEO of MPP Software

Q. How committed are you to digital transformation?

Digital Transformation is core to all of our lines of business, and innovation is one of our foundational values at MPP Software. We work with diverse clients and market problems to improve, automate and optimize traditional business methods.

Q. What disruptive solutions have you delivered across diverse markets?

TrustedShare is a private sharing platform and the first to integrate multiple elements of vacation property sharing into one solution. With the ability to share boats, RVs, vacation homes, and cars all in one system, coupled with the ability to offer add-ons like lake or community center access passes or special food requests, users can package multiple components and share turnkey vacations that offer much more than just a BnB to lay your head at. TrustedShare also offers the best security in the industry, allowing users absolute control over who can stay at their property and who can even view if it is listed online to avoid “nosy neighbors” making complaints.

MD Guest is a collaboration with the Canadian Physician community to offer physician-to-physician vacation rentals. Our highly secure system allows members’ credentials’ to be vetted before they join the platform, so only members of the community can join, and only members of the community can list properties. With the full suite of capabilities of TrustedShare but available only to select community members, this has become the technical hub of a community of thousands of physicians involved in vacation swapping across Canada. JRTB / REWL Access is a platform developed along with JustRingTheBell.ca (JRTB). The platform allows homeowners and listing realtors to set up an availability calendar for their property. It also allows authorized buyers (vetted and approved) to book their viewings and proceed with a showing on the property in real-time. Within 5 minutes of pulling up in front of a JRTB-enabled property for sale, a prospective buyer can view availability, request a viewing, and start their viewing, with access enabled by app-connected smart locks on each home.

“We are a team of innovators, creatives, and disruptors.”

Q. Sometimes we would like to vacation from our busy schedule. How helpful is MPP Software in this regard?

MPP follows the trend of Silicon Valley of offering unlimited vacation to its full-time employees. We have an outcomes-oriented work culture, not centered around the number of hours spent at your desk. We encourage our employees to put their families and community commitments first. I have found that by adopting a culture where employees feel valued, they spend more of their time engaged and find creative ways to add value to the company rather than trying to milk productive hours out of a disengaged workforce stuck in a mandatory 9-5 schedule.

Q. How is LandNinja the next-generation cloud-based Petroleum Land Asset Management system?

To fully appreciate the audacious effort that is Land Ninja, the reader/user needs to understand the massive changes that have happened in the industry in recent years. Petroleum, Land Management, and the supporting disciplines were historically focused on the geographical aspects of the role. Getting approval to do a project was easy. Finding a path for a pipeline or finding a location for a well and who owned the land along the way was the hard part. So roughly 20 years ago, today’s 4-5 effective systems emerged with solutions to the who-owns-the-land and where-should-the-pipe-go problems. These have been solved well and are not the problems facing most companies today.

Today, with the rapidly evolving requirements of First Nations, environmental and conservation groups creating political and economic barriers to new energy developments, the problem is less a technical one and much more a human one. Making sure every stakeholder is engaged, aware, and signs off on a project and tracking contractual commitments from start to reclamation is a very different problem than the industry faced in the past, and it is evident new tools are required.

LandNinja keeps what’s good about the tools available today by providing a central integration hub for GIS, Land Titles, Survey, and RTD programs while marrying that with a stakeholder-first project model that allows much simpler and more transparent management of the people involved in a land project. Add onto that world-class security from our private asset sharing platform, TrustedShare. We enable selective information sharing between Brokers, Land Agents, and Producers / Developers from one system and one source of records.

Q. How has the collaboration of MPP Software and JustRingTheBell (JRTB) led to the digital transformation of the Real Estate industry?

MPP’s collaboration with and later acquisition of JRTB has helped move the real estate market forward by providing near-real-time (NRT) home showings. JRTB enables unprecedented access to homes for sale with an incredibly fast turnaround time for buyers. This gives the buyers on the platform an edge over their opposition in this tight seller’s market we have seen over the start of 2022 and phenomenal lead generation for the listing realtor and their clients. As one of the first providers in the proptech market to introduce real-time identity verification, we have also introduced a system that overcomes the security limitations of previous NRT home showing solutions put forward by our would-be competitors who are already out of business. Within our local pilot market, dozens of homes have already been sold using this platform.

Q. What, according to you, is beyond strategic planning to fulfill the goals of a strategy?

Many organizations struggle with the strategy–execution gap, which limits their ability to fulfill their strategic planning goals. Coming to my role as CEO with a background in project management, developing tactical plans that take strategic goals and deconstruct them into smaller, measurable, actionable work packages is just a new application of transferred skills. So to get beyond strategic planning and goal setting, one needs the ability not just to see “where are we going?” but also to define and communicate “how will we get there” and organize a team around those activities. Achieving overarching strategic goals is rarely about doing one big thing to achieve significant change. But instead, the big change results from many small steps executed effectively along the way.
