In 2004, strategist, change-maker and executive coach Kate Ebner founded The Nebo Company to provide superb leadership coaching and professional development to leaders who want to make a positive difference in the world. Today, they are more passionate than ever about coaching and developing leaders for their clients; leaders who can transcend their challenges and bring about important change.

Q. What’s behind the name?

Nebo is named after Lake Nebo, a hidden lake in the Adirondack Mountains. In this pristine setting, Kate Ebner experienced an unforgettable sense of deep connection, creativity and inner peace as a child. Leaving the lake, she wondered how to hold onto that feeling of inspiration in everyday life. Over time, Kate discovered that most people have a place or memory that inspires deep peace, renewal and self-confidence. She asks, “How can we access that inner balance when we need it most in our busy and demanding lives? How can our ‘nebo’ experiences continue to ground our leadership, even when we are not at our nebo? How do we carry that feeling with us?”

To the organization Nebo is a beautiful metaphor for centered, resilient leadership.  Each have a “lake within,” a center point in which they can access the resources needed to lead with courage, grace and purpose. Nebo’s coaches guide leaders to navigate their own inner waters to find the source of their highest potential – their nebo.

Kate blends deep experience as a change leader with a lifelong commitment to helping people and organizations to make their visions real. After more than two decades of leading organizations first hand, she knows the challenges that leaders face. Kate’s clients appreciate her strategic perspective, empathetic style and the positive sense of accountability that she provides as they travel the path towards realizing their goals.

As a coach, Kate typically works with senior executive leaders and C-level leaders in a range of industries and especially enjoys working with people who face significant challenges. A thought partner to her clients, Kate taps into her knowledge of transformational change, drawing upon what she has learned in her role as Founding Director of Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership (ITL) and her role as a leadership faculty member there.
