New World Wind: Offering clean, sustainable energy solutions through a high-technology micro-wind turbine

Preserving nature and, in turn, the planet has increasingly become one of the more pressing matters the world is trying to solve. Taking on the responsibility of doing so is by no means a one-man job, but it starts there. New World Wind is a company that is making it their responsibility and trying to do their part in preserving nature through a smart solution.

Through a power generation solution that combines high technology with design, New World Wind is offering wind and solar energy for perfect integration into urban and natural environments. As a company, they offer electric solutions like smart wind turbines that are designed to promote new and original systems.

CIO Bulletin had the opportunity to talk more about the company with Luc-Eric KRIEF, the owner, chairman, and CEO of New World Wind.

Q. What is the story of New World Wind? How has the company grown over the years since its inception?

In February 2017, I decided to buy all the assets of New Wind and enhance and develop the principle of Aeroleafs. After completing a year of R&D and technical modifications, I reached the target of putting it on the international market as an acceptable solution that is easy to manufacture, easy to position, and has a competitive price and performance.

In April 2018, the first product was sold and installed in Gerlingen, Germany. New World Wind is now represented all over the world with many partnerships, and we have installed more than 130 solutions on five continents. New World Wind is now a major supplier of renewable energy based on micro-turbines.

Q. What are some of the most important ways New World Wind has contributed to innovation within the wind turbine space and the renewable energy industry as a whole?

The main target was to propose an aesthetic solution that was easy to build, close to customers, and had no negative impacts on nature. That is the main reason we decided to propose an elegant solution that is biomorphic and looks like a tree. Those designs permit us to propose an acceptable solution and avoid the rejection of the big wind mills, as most people do not prefer them close to their homes.

With our micro-turbines called Aeroleafs, we can generate electricity with a very low wind speed and without noise. Additionally, they happen to be bird-friendly and come in different colors. Through our company, a new generation of renewable energy can be proposed to customers (industry, municipality, private customer, etc.). Our products can be considered “Smart Grids.” Our solutions are set up in the USA, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Antarctica, and we can propose different solutions for different uses.

Aeroleafs on roof tops will be the best solution in the future considering the weight (light), the performance (till 1000W), the design (silent and customizable), and the facility to be installed (brackets or single rails).

Q. What events led to the development of New World Wind’s innovative Aeroleaf technology?

There are many things, like pollution growth, the development of smart cities, and the individual’s need for light mobility, which needs EV chargers. But the two main are the cost of energy (nuclear or fossil) and the idea that people want to generate their own energy independent of national or private providers.

But we are always open to adding more. The wind is blowing almost 24/7, and it is the best way to use this sustainable energy.

Q. What are the benefits clients receive from choosing to work with New World Wind?

Our unique product has a range of solutions, all while being aesthetic, adaptable, customizable, and relevant. New World Wind covers the entire world, and our target is to propose the simplest solution and the most relevant too. In good conditions of wind (8 m/s) with Aeroleafs on the roof tops, we can expect a maximum ROI of about 3 to 5 years. Minimum investments are needed for maximum power generation.

Q. What makes Aeroleaf technology unique? How is it innovative in its approach to energy production through wind turbines?

Everybody thinks big when we speak about smart solutions without a negative impact on nature. Micro-turbines have many advantages; they are silent, relevant, easy to install (no big civil work), close to customers, and bird-friendly. We can customize the Aeroleafs where big windmills cannot do it and present many inconveniences. Aeroleafs are totally independent, and they work in parallel nature; if one Aeroleaf cannot work, the others can produce electricity. We currently have no competitors in the market that can propose the same biomorphic solutions. We are unique!

Q. What has been the impact of Aeroleaf technology on the renewable energy industry as a whole? How have customers welcomed this innovative technology?

At the beginning, customers were only interested in the design (showcase), but little by little, with our capacity to enhance the production of energy, customers have shown a lot of interest in Aeroleafs. We will continue to involve this technology and propose a new generator with a new design of our Aeroleaf that will be able to provide 1000W of energy.

Sales of this new product started in January 2024. When a prospect has a look at our solutions, we always hear, “I love it!” it is the best compliment we can receive.

Q. How vital has it been to build a skilled team at New World Wind? How does the company promote innovation within its team?

Men and women are the basis of success, and they are the main channel for growth. I trust in our capacity to imagine, create, build, and change the world. Our technology is innovative and eco-friendly. We can recycle 95% of our production. We are sustainable, and our targets are to preserve the planet and to propose a very clever solution integrating “save our world.” Our entire team shares the same goal. We predict New World Wind will be a major company in the micro-turbine market in 5 years. It is my own target.

Q. What are New World Wind’s plans for the future?

Our major plan is to have offices on five continents, to be the main company that proposes micro-turbine solutions, and to become the leader in our market. We aspire to see our solutions everywhere, for many different requests, and to have many satisfied customers.

Q. Would you like us to highlight something important happening in your company that we may have missed asking about?

We work on NEOM projects in KSA, and I hope that our products can illuminate apartments, offices, and all other needs. We are also in Antarctica with some Aeroleafs, and we continue to adapt our solutions worldwide.
