It all started in 2003 when Christoph along with Tobias Ellenberger and others set out to provide security solutions. Tobias is currently the Chief Operating Officer and the leading force of the international growth of Oneconsult. Today, the company has more than 350 clients, where many are international organizations. With such a vast and diverse client base, Oneconsult has expanded in Europe and Australia. The company’s group currently consists of the holding “Oneconsult International AG” and its subsidiary companies “Oneconsult AG” and “Oneconsult Deutschland GmbH”.

But the journey of expansion and growth of the company was a laborious process. “In the early years of Oneconsult, there was a great demand for penetration tests of customer IT infrastructures,” recalls Christoph Baumgartner, the founder and CEO. However, over the course of time, the business moved to cyberspace with the security testing of web applications, like online shops and internet banking portals, and industrial control systems became increasingly important. Soon, it was the right time to release services like standard-based high-level gap analyses (NIST, ISO, etc.), digital forensics and incident response services.

“Over time, projects have become larger and more complex as environments and objects have become increasingly more digitized, connected, leading, amongst others, to embedded devices and the Internet of Things,” he adds. With the increase in a number of cybercrimes, Oneconsult started having project teams with dedicated cybersecurity specialists from different backgrounds and key competencies. At present, Oneconsult is made up of a strong cybersecurity team of over 40 security experts.

While finance is an important requirement to start a company, experiences are extremely valuable as well. Christoph’s previous work experiences have significantly influenced the set up and the continuous development of the company. 15 years of delivering excellent solutions have resulted in strongly positive customer feedback. At the same time, the critical and constructive feedback fueled the engine for the continuous improvement of Oneconsult’s services. There’s also been an increase in quality in various areas like processes, tools, and documentation.

The key driving factors that Christoph implemented was involving the employees in decision-making, trusting them and giving them the space to implement their own ideas and also coaching them and backing them up when mistakes happen. “Encouraging people, appreciating their contribution, rewarding them and combining the strengths of all individuals will make a company excel in its field of business. This is what makes Oneconsult successful,” he sincerely believes.

Speaking about the future, Christoph says that Oneconsult plans to invest in broadening its security service portfolio along with pursuing a sustainable growth strategy. New subsidiaries in key markets and a stronger international foothold are also some of the future plans.

Christoph Baumgartner founded Oneconsult AG in 2003 and has been Chief Executive Officer since. Together with Tobias Ellenberger he represents the operative management of Oneconsult group and heads the management team. Christoph has been working as a consultant focusing on IT security and IT strategy since 1996. Before setting up Oneconsult, Christoph has held a number of management positions at various respected system and security integrators. He is a certified ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, an OSSTMM Professional Security Tester (OPST) and an ISECOM board member.
