OpenText: The Information Company

OpenText: The Information Company

A tidal wave of information is transforming our world. Enterprises are facing enormous pressures in today’s digital economy: the expansion of mobile connectivity to millions of new users, the roll-out of 5G technology, and the rise of the Internet of Things are driving exponential growth in both the number of endpoints and the quantity of information that is created and shared.

Organizations are also facing increased pressures from customers and employees to provide an information-fuelled experience, while continuing to operate in a secure and compliant manner, respecting continually evolving privacy protection standards.

Enter OpenText: a Canadian software giant and Enterprise Information Management (EIM) leader, helping 90% of Fortune 500 companies to get maximum value out of their company information―what OpenText calls “unlocking the information advantage”.

The journey so far

OpenText evolved out of an innovative project at the University of Waterloo that digitized the Oxford English Dictionary. OpenText incorporated in 1991 and has transformed over the last 28 years into an international software and services powerhouse with 105 offices worldwide and 13,000 employees in its global workforce. Today, OpenText is a global leader in EIM, with market-leading positions in Content Services and Business Networks.

As the world embraced cloud computing, OpenText evolved with flexible cloud platforms to help enterprises prepare for and compete as Industry 4.0 beckons. In addition to investing significantly in research and development, the company’s M&A strategy is focused on bringing new technology into their portfolio, with 9 cloud acquisitions since 2012.

In fiscal year 2019, OpenText reported $2.9 billion in total revenues, with more than $900 million in cloud revenue. Eighty-five of the largest 100 companies in the world are OpenText customers. OpenText supports customers across all major industry verticals, from financial services to life sciences and retail to telecom.

Why OpenText?

Companies are struggling under the burden of information sprawl. The increase of SaaS applications has driven productivity gains, but they also create silos that prevent companies from taking advantage of the information they generate, as well as creating significant costs for the IT departments trying to manage them.

OpenText helps solve these challenges by creating a single information layer for companies where all information, regardless of application type, is stored. This allows companies to leverage insights, collaboration, compliance and other common uses which otherwise would be difficult to implement.

OpenText can support customers regardless of their infrastructure choices, with  SaaS, private, public, multi-cloud and hybrid options, OpenText provides access to critical information in the most convenient, secure and agile way possible. The OpenText Cloud provides seamless integration to Google Cloud Platform, AWS and Azure, as well as connectors to off-cloud apps and services, ensuring  support across the most complex architectures. This helps customers achieve the necessary scale, flexibility and capacity for innovation to meet their business needs, without forcing them to compromise on security or risk.

“OpenText is delivering next generation cloud services and applications to power digital business and a modern workforce. The OpenText cloud enables hybrid workloads and brings enterprise-class security to our customers, while maintaining the reliability and agility they depend on,” said Mark J.
