Kim Tabac and her team at League are powering next-gen healthcare consumer experiences to deliver high-engagement and personalized solutions

Digital transformation of healthcare is making use of the latest technologies, methodologies and processes to deliver sustainable value to patients. It is the latest way to deliver efficient and effective care. Digital transformation of healthcare is a building block of a patient-focused approach to healthcare. It aids healthcare providers to streamline operations, understand patient requirements and build trust and loyalty. Digital transformation in healthcare has enormous potential to optimize operational processes and improve the overall patient experience all the while reducing costs. As a healthcare provider, adapting to the digital era means doing away with outdated business processes and believing that technological disruption will deliver significant results. Telemedicine, Big Data, IoT, Artificial Intelligence have all played a huge role in transforming customer experience in healthcare services Digital transformation in healthcare allows you to create a secure database for encrypting, storing, and accessing private medical records of patients and enables sharing them on-demand with healthcare professionals, laboratories, and medical specialists. Embracing digital transformation is no longer an option in almost every industry and the healthcare industry is no exception.

Globally there are various companies powering the digital transformation of healthcare, but League stands out from the rest. League started with a vision for the future of healthcare: consumer-centric, personalized, preventive, and always on. The team at League is relentlessly focused on the consumer experience, driving unprecedented engagement levels in healthcare. Today, millions of people use digital health experiences powered by League to make better choices for their health. The healthcare experience is confusing, impersonal, and difficult to navigate. Empowering the consumer is key. Healthcare lacks an underlying platform that connects every aspect of the consumer’s health journey. League is that infrastructure. A platform the healthcare industry can build on to create seamless and personalized digital health experiences that people use and love. The company provides a digital front door to a broad spectrum of capabilities, making it easy for people to access, navigate and pay for care.

FHIR is at the core of League’s data platform

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, patients turned to digital channels for telehealth visits, prescription renewals, specialty consultations and more. This shift allowed people to become more comfortable interacting virtually with their health. The pandemic has also shined a spotlight on the importance of personal health since individuals with pre-existing health conditions often had a higher risk of contracting a serious case of COVID-19. In response, many consumers began to take charge of their health using digital resources to track their fitness and manage chronic conditions. With these consumer demands and expectations as a backdrop, there is a greater sense of urgency for incumbent payers, providers and consumer health companies to accelerate their digital transformation.

Industry leaders across all segments of the healthcare ecosystem are now in a race to improve their end-consumer experiences. Interoperability of health data across both traditional (e.g. EMR, claims, health questionnaires) and novel (e.g. wearables) data sources is a key element to this process. Data silos create a significant barrier to the digital transformation of incumbent payers, providers and consumer health companies. Through League's Health OS, the company supports the integration of partner- and user-derived data sources to personalize the experience for users, resulting in industry-leading engagement and enabling rich insights on the consumers, patients and members of League's partners.

Personalization driving high engagement

At the center of League's capability to integrate across data silos and personalize the consumer experience is its data platform, based on the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard. League uses FHIR as the data model to support the integration of healthcare data on its platform and to model data that is generated by members as they interact with the platform. League's Health OS™ supports a number of common capabilities for consumers to engage in their healthcare, which is made possible by the FHIR data model.

Bringing together these different data sources creates a holistic view of League's users which it uses to personalize their experience and drive engagement. The integration of these data sources also empowers the company’s partners by deriving key insights into user behavior and healthcare engagement. Previously these partners needed to carefully curate a variety of externally and internally sourced datasets to develop this level of characterization and understanding of their consumer or patient. With League’s Health OS™, its partners can incorporate their existing data sets along with data generated and integrated on the platform to get a complete 360° view of their consumers or patients.
