An innovator disrupting how linear actuators are engineered: RISE Robotics

Electrification has been increasing in most market segments as of late, including the construction equipment industry. This has been due to the necessary technologies becoming more mature and affordable—aided by their development and use in the on-road segment—as well as increasing emissions regulations. Several cities around the world have announced they will ban the use of diesel within city limits, impacting not only roadway vehicles but also the equipment working in those cities. Because of this, many manufacturers have already developed, or are in the process of developing, electric construction equipment. Doing so ensures the equipment will be ready and available for customers in time for the implementation of the regulations. The leader in high-performance and cost effective electric linear actuation solutions, RISE Robotics helps machine designers embrace high-efficiency, fuel saving actuation solutions that compete with hydraulic cylinders. Designed for medium and heavy duty applications, RISE Cylinder provides fuel and emissions reductions, improves productivity and extends machine life.

More Electric Heavy Machinery

The heart of the RISE platform, RISE Cylinder packs an unprecedented level of power into a cylindrical package, delivering hydraulic-equivalent performance - without fluids - in a robust linear actuator design that can perform under extreme circumstances for extended maintenance-free service. Driven by modern brushless motors and lubricated for life, RISE Cylinder is made to perform. Mobile lifting applications that rely heavily on hydraulics require excessive battery capacities. The large battery capacities required are largely due to mechanical and thermal losses of the hydraulic cylinder system.  For demanding mobile lifting applications, RISE Cylinder technologies are known for extending vehicle battery runtime performance by up to 2X.  It must be understood that runtime improvements via RISE Cylinder are determined on a case-by-case basis. RISE technicians will work with you and your company to determine the meaningful value of RISE technologies within your application.

Work for the future

The RISE platform can be used in any machinery or industry that relies on hydraulic movement systems. From agricultural equipment to lifting applications, heavy construction to mining equipment, and more. By eliminating fluids, the RISE platform drastically reduces actuator maintenance intervals. Its proprietary electrically-powered motion technology also doubles runtime compared to equivalent hydraulic systems. At the heart of every RISE platform is a sealed electrically powered and digitally controlled system of steel cables and pulleys. This cable-driven actuation system offers levels of control not possible with traditional hydraulics, and far greater speed than a screw-based linear actuator. RISE Robotics, a leader in high-performance and cost effective electric linear actuation solutions, announced that Ken Gray has joined the company as Vice President of Business Development. Gray brings his extensive background in construction and mining equipment innovation to the role, which oversees the expansion and commercialization of RISE Technology in industrial applications through collaborations with key heavy equipment manufacturing partners. “Ken Gray has been leading the effort to improve the efficiency of heavy machinery for more than a decade,” said Arron Acosta, CEO of RISE Robotics. “We are thrilled to welcome Ken to our mission as he lends his incredible experience to unlocking new possibilities for RISE technology. His unmatched industry relationships coupled with his determination brings together titans of industry - his friends as well as his former rivals – to collaborate on transformative new technologies moving heavy machinery closer to electrification and ultimately sustainability.” “Imagine a machine without pumps, valves, blocks, tubes, hoses and seals that uses one-quarter of the energy of the best of today's machines. Imagine no leaks, no fuel, no emissions. Imagine a machine that's remarkably quiet and out-lifts, out-digs and operates smoother than anything that's ever been built,” said Gray. “RISE Robotics’ mission is to enable that imagination to become reality.

Meet the leader behind the success of RISE Robotics

Arron Acosta is the Chief Executive Officer of RISE Robotics. Arron is a serial entrepreneur. MIT Prof. E. Crawley recruited him to start Ekotrope, a company that successfully created a market-leading, new Home Energy Rating System software. Acosta also developed supply chain know-how during his time at Apple. In 2011, Arron and Blake co-founded RISE Robotics in order to pursue able-body enhancing exo-suits and exoskeletons.

“Driven by modern brushless motors and lubricated for life, RISE Cylinder is made to perform.”
