The Indoor Golf Shop — Providing clients with the best in class and immaculate indoor golfing solutions

Are you sick of playing golf on the same old courses and running the same old workouts? You might not have as much time as you’d like to practice, but you still want to improve your athletic prowess.

Sports simulations are now an accessible and thrilling way to develop your athletic abilities and have fun doing it thanks to the development of advanced technology. If you play baseball, golf or any other sport, whether you’re an expert or just getting started, simulators can offer you a novel and entertaining way to practice.

Sports simulators have been around for a while and are now available in community centres, sports bars, and private garages. You can even download driving simulators for your iPhone if you like.

Sports simulators offer realistic game-like situations without the need for real competition or even a real environment, which is one of their biggest advantages. This entails that you can hone your abilities in an environment that closely resembles the conditions of a game or match, giving you the opportunity to get more accustomed to playing under various conditions.

You can practice taking penalty kicks, for instance, if you play football. You can practice your drives, chips and putts if you play golf.

Simulators can help you polish your skills and address areas of weakness, unlike VR fitness technology, which might not be able to help you improve your form. You can build the muscle memory required to perform better in real life by practicing various techniques and repeatedly honing your swing or kick.

The Indoor Golf Shop is your one-stop shop for setting up your own indoor golf simulator because of their shared passion for everything golf. The Indoor Golf Shop is a manufacturer, distributor, and online retailer of the best indoor golf equipment. They are dedicated to assisting others in building the golf simulator studio of their dreams and run their business by golfers, for golfers. For golfers who want to play their favorite sport whenever they want, they provide the best indoor golf equipment, information, resources, and support.

Recently CIO Bulletin had chat with Rene Delgado, the Founder and President of the Indoor Golf Shop, on all things related to indoor golf. Here are a few excerpts from the conversation that ensued.

Q. How did The Indoor Golf Shop get started, and how did the company grow and evolve once you started doing work for major simulator brands, golf retailers, and entertainment venues?

The business started small in 2017 as an online distributor of launch monitors and other indoor golf products that grew out of a passion for the game and seizing on the opportunity of new technology in golf. Fast forward through the COVID years, and our business rapidly grew with more products and services added, including our own manufactured goods like golf simulator studios, impact screens, hitting mats, and simulator flooring.

In the past couple of years, we’ve invested heavily in our infrastructure, including real estate, staffing, manufacturing equipment, inventory and sales systems, and product development, to meet the demands of this fast-growing segment of the golf industry.

Q. How does your recent acquisition of In-Home Golf, Canada’s leading custom golf simulator design and installation company, position you to reach your next set of goals for the company?

It turns us into an organization that can service all levels of indoor golf needs. We were very heavily focused on DIY and customers looking for done-for-you solutions. We’ll deliver a product that’s easy to assemble on a pallet, like a Sim-in-a-Box product. We had every intention of starting a custom design-and-build division within the Indoor Golf Shop and growing it internally, because we knew that’s where the future was going.

Consequently, we are bringing in In-Home Golf, which has offices in both Canada and the US and has years of experience in the industry. One of these offices is in New Jersey, which is next to New York and is a significant consumer state for us. We were two or three years ahead of schedule thanks to it. Our customers will definitely benefit from it, and it seemed like a perfect fit.

Tell us about the technology that goes in to build these simulators.

The golf launch monitor and golf simulator space have been revolutionary in the last 10 years. Photometric technology has revolutionized the indoor game with precise data and instant video capabilities. Software and the golf courses on the screen are so much better today, too. Quick advancements and improvements that technology brands are making really help the customer experience because it’s becoming more and more realistic and accurate.

Q. Why would I not go straight to a simulator manufacturer instead of coming to The Indoor Golf Shop? What do you guys bring to the table?

We are uniquely positioned in the market to offer golfers an end-to-end golf simulator solution that covers the entire range of budgets. Our sales and support staff is one of, if not the biggest, in the industry. They know the technical ins and outs of each launch monitor, simulator, projector, and gaming PC that is on the market and can help guide our customers during the entire buying process. We also manufacture products that go into the home or into the business and can custom design those items to fit any space, and our attention to detail is unmatched. I believe those factors are what put us ahead of any competitor in our industry.

Q. How do you ensure consistency in delivering high-quality products?

With regards to the launch monitors and other technology products we sell, it is our mission to provide customers with vetted choices that we test and make sure of the product’s promised deliverables. As an online retailer, we act as a testing ground for the products we choose and don’t choose to carry. The last thing we want is for our customers to feel cheated or disappointed in a product they buy from us.

For the different products that we manufacture in our facility, we take great pride in the quality and durability of those items. If it has The Indoor Golf Shop name on it, our customers can feel certain that quality control took place with frequency during the production process and that the very best materials were used to create their new product.

Q. What’s the consultation-to-sale-to-installation process like when someone works with you?

It starts with understanding why the client wants a golf simulator because there is still a lot of education to do about the different technical aspects and differences between the systems that are offered. Once we know what they want their golf simulator space for, we talk about the space and sketch the floor plan before creating a 3D rendering that brings the room to visual life.

Q. What sets The Indoor Golf Shop apart from other dealers and sellers of simulators and launch monitors?

Something that’s really cool and unique about the way we approach it is that it’s more of a discovery or consultation. To start, we identify exactly what it is that the customer is looking for, whether they’re going to be using it for training, entertainment, or both. We have so many options that we try to narrow down the scope by asking really pointed questions, and then narrow down the possibilities to offer them exactly what they’re looking for, whether it’s something that’s a sim-in-a-box type product or a complete custom built-in solution for their space.

All soft goods that we sell at our company – both to end consumers and contract manufacturing relationships with technology partners – we manufacture in-house. That includes golf mats, impact screens, golf nets, retractable screens, putting green simulators, flooring – anything that’s outside of the technology we make in-house now.

Q. What is an example of how your company went above and beyond for customers?

We had a residential customer that purchased a very expensive golf simulator, and once installed, it not only had technical issues and unfortunate bugs, but the space in his house wasn’t large enough for some of the components. Our team worked with him over the course of 30 days to return some of the items in exchange for a better system, create the correct size of a studio, flooring, and screen, and build out the room that he had truly wanted all along. We knew it was a disappointing experience for him at the beginning, and we wanted to make it right. After it was all said and done, the room now has an impressive golf simulator, and he is a very happy golfer.

Q. How do you see your business developing over the next five years?

Our vision is focused on market leadership and being the top destination for customers—residential and commercial—that want the very best indoor golf products, services, and experience. We don’t rest on our laurels and feel satisfied with where we are today. We will continue innovating products and services while diversifying our business in new ways. We are also looking at other international markets to open in the coming years. As we expand into other countries, we will continue to grow our core business capabilities, which include contract and commercial manufacturing, DIY, direct to consumer simulator packages, custom space design, and new product development.
