In 2019, it was rumored that TierPoint was interested in a large chunk of investment to expand in markets including Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Oklahoma.
Early this year, St. Louis, MO-based company attracted an handsome investment of $320 million from a consortium of new and old investors including Argo Infrastructure Partners, Wafra, and Macquarie Capital Principal Finance, Cequel III, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, RedBird Capital Partners, The Stephens Group, and Thompson Street Capital Partners. Citi and DH acted as the financial advisors in the equity transactions. TierPoint attracting such big investments is a testament to investor confidence in the company’s capabilities and future vision. “TierPoint is well positioned for robust growth that will allow the company to expand its market-leading position and capitalize on the tailwinds supporting the data center industry,” says Fawaz Al-Mubaraki, CEO of investment firm Wafra.
The Leader Upfront
Jerald L. Kent, Chairman and CEO
Jerald is an entrepreneur and an expert in the field of telecommunications and technology. Before taking on the role of TierPoint’s CEO, he was the company’s chairman. He also serves as the CEO of a technology management company, Cequel III. He began his career at Arthur Andersen in 1979 as a CPA.
He was named as the Executive of the Year in 2011 by Multichannel News. He was inducted in the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame and received the cable industry’s Distinguished Vanguard Award for Leadership in 2012. In 2013, he was named CED Magazine’s co-person of the year, with Suddenlink CTO Terry Cordova, and in 2014, Jerry was inducted into The Cable Center Hall of Fame.
He is on the board of trustees and executive committee for his alma mater, Washington University. He is Vice Chairman of The Magic House/St. Louis Children’s Museum Board. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the St. Louis Zoo and Chairman of the St. Louis Zoological Park Subdistrict Commission.
