30 Most Innovative Companies 2019
CIO Bulletin
Cohesity challenges mass data fragmentation which is hindering the business process. Most enterprise data like backups, archives, file shares, object stores, and data utilized for test/dev and analytics — sits in fragmented infrastructure silos that become difficult to safeguard, costly to take care of, tough to analyze.
The company unifies silos on a single web-scale platform, connecting on-premises, cloud, and the edge and also strengthens firms to run apps on that platform- easing the back up and abstract insights from data. Cohesity is proud of being recognized as a 2019 CNBC Disruptor, a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, and one of Tech Tribune's 2019 10 Best Tech Startups in San Jose.
In a few short years, Cohesity counts many Global 1000 companies and federal agencies among its customer base, including top telecommunications providers, aerospace firms, banks and executive departments of the US government. On an average, the company has seen 40% net new customer growth quarter over quarter for the last year.

Cohesity has consolidated Data Unification Tool with AWS GovCloud. The company had already worked with AWS for cloud-native backups and some other data services. But Cohesity’s association with AWS GovCloud will accord with innumerable government regulations around sensitive data and workloads.
Cohesity has also become a member of the AWS Public Sector Partner Program, meaning the company met Amazon’s requirements to serve mutual customers and collaborate with AWS to improve its products.
“Bringing Cohesity’s unique data management capabilities to AWS GovCloud empowers government agencies to harness the benefits of hybrid cloud infrastructure through an efficient and easy-to-use platform that eliminates mass data fragmentation,” said Cohesity CTO Steve Grewal in a statement. “We’re excited to expand the capabilities we provide our public sector customers so they can benefit from modern and efficient data infrastructure that helps them do more with their data.”
Success story to prove its efficiency
True Alliance
True Alliance is an omni-channel retail company that has its presence across New Zealand and Australia. The association of AWS and Cohesity has supported in the growth of company’s future.
Challenges the company had to face:
The company takes care right from customer and sales records to maintaining high-quality digital images and videos in marketing campaigns. Aiden Ichsan, the company’s network engineer is proud of company’s data stores topping 45 terabytes, which was troubling its backup infrastructure.
“We had reached the stage where the weekend wasn’t long enough to complete a full backup of all our servers,” he says. “We were finding we had to do some backups during the week and even some during the working day which wasn’t ideal. This caused some network congestion issues and created some problems for other parts of the business.”
Ichsan says that the company had been relying on a Veritas Backup Exec infrastructure which stored data in three IBM tape libraries. This system had been in place for around five years and was proving increasingly difficult to manage and maintain.
How did it resolve?
After analysing different options, the company decided to deploy a Cohesity-based solution with data storage capacity offered by the AWS Glacier service. Ichsan says the native cloud integration capability offered by Cohesity made both the initial deployment and ongoing management very straightforward. It was simply a matter of selecting Amazon Glacier as an external target and the Cohesity appliance began the backup process.
“With Cohesity, you can have one appliance that just does it all for you and that has removed much of the complexity that we were battling against in our environment. When you add the flexibility and reliability of Amazon Glacier, the solution becomes even more compelling.”
