Unforgettable Hiking Vacations that Connect, Inspire and Achieve: Wildland Trekking

Welcome to Wildland Trekking! They offer premier hiking vacations across the U.S.A. and the globe. Many adventure companies focus on multiple sports, but not them – they are 100% focused on the trekking experience. With exceptional guides, fantastic meals, top-of-the-line gear, dialed-in logistics, incredible support staff, and award-winning itineraries, the company is passionate about providing unforgettable trekking experiences for guests all over the world!

Q. What is unique about Wildland Trekking?

Professional, Expert Guides

Wildland Trekking’s commitment is to hire and train the best guides in the industry. They seek out career-minded guides with extensive personal and professional wilderness experience, as well as hard skills and certifications. Perhaps most important though is that Wildland guides are knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and passionate.

Small Group Tours

What the company is most interested in is showing their guests the magic of the backcountry. When possible, they prefer to get their groups not only far away from roads and crowds, but even off hiking trails. This type of intimate wilderness travel is most conducive to small groups, with often max of 5 or 6 guests, and at most 12.

Choice of Trip Styles

Wildland Trekking very well knows that among people who love to hike, there is a wide range of preference in terms of the type of hiking and/or accommodations on a trip. With backpacking trips, llama treks, portered trips, inn-based tours, camping-based tours and day hikes, the company offers the ability to hand-pick your personal preferences.

Basecamp tours

A Wildland Trekking Camping Tour is an incredible way to have an adventurous outdoor experience of world renowned national parks and wilderness destinations while hiking with only a light daypack and sleeping soundly in comfortable, vehicle-accessible camps. Led by expert hiking guides, they set up camp in established campgrounds (with showers) and embark on a series of unforgettable hikes! Wildland also provides all the gear, meals, transportation, permits, fees and reservations so you can focus 100% on hiking and enjoying your national park camping vacation.

Your only “job” on these trips is absorbing and enjoying everything the national park, or parks, of your choice have to offer – their breathtaking views, challenging and fulfilling hikes, awe-inspiring natural and cultural history, wildlife, and unique natural wonders.

Family friendly trips

Wildland’s recommended family trips are great opportunities for families with school age children to travel as a family, enjoy amazing hiking destinations, and to feel confident that what you’re embarking on is appropriate for your family. The main criteria they use to determine a good family trip are the difficulty of the hiking (easy to moderate), the weight of the backpacks (10-20 pounds), and flexibility with itineraries. Active, strong children 12 and older can certainly enjoy additional trips, so these are merely suggestions. Finally, appropriateness of a trip is subjective and should be determined on a case by case basis by evaluating the nature and demands of the trip, and the fitness and experience of your family.

Inn-based trips

During the company’s Inn-Based Trips, your only “job” is absorbing and enjoying all the destination of your choice has to offer – its breathtaking views, challenging and fulfilling days of hiking, awe-inspiring natural and cultural history, wildlife, and unique natural wonders.

You’ll hike by day and at night sleep in cabins, hotels, lodges, homestays, huts (Iceland), refugios (Patagonia) or teahouses (Nepal). The character and amenities of these accommodations vary significantly by destination and trip, some being quite elaborate and others being very basic. Some of our tours feature a mix of camping and lodging. To have a room to yourself, where available, please take note of the single room supplements.

Guided llama treks

Join Wildland for a multi-day llama-supported hiking adventure! Explore Yellowstone National Park, the iconic Wind River Range, off-the-beaten-path mountains around Jackson Hole, the west side of the Tetons, Rocky Mountain National Park, Utah’s Canyon Country or Peru’s amazing Rainbow Mountain trail. Their llama treks are all-inclusive hiking vacations that take you to some of the most beautiful mountain country in the United States and beyond.

Aside from carrying the bulk of the supplies, allowing guests to hike with light day packs, llamas are amazing trail companions. You can choose to lead a llama or just hike on your own, but either way you’re likely to fall in love with these amazing animals by the end of your trip.

Every autumn, the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee go through a magical and breathtaking transformation. The diverse deciduous forests of the Great Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains combust in a kaleidoscope of fantastic colors: vibrant reds, deep oranges, yellows, pinks and more. The trees that comprise this region’s amazing forests – sugar maple, scarlet oak, sweetgum, red maple, hickory and more – cover the mountains’ high peaks, ridges and valleys. When they begin their autumn transformation, they treat us to one of nature’s most stunning displays. As we hike, sightsee and learn about the area, we explore a mountain landscape abundant with pristine creeks, waterfalls, wildlife, big mountain views, history and more.
