Make Workplaces More Sustainable and Productive with Wittra’s IoT Solutions

Wittra was born out of a simple question – ‘Where Is My Stuff And What Is It Doing?’ This question popped into Håkan Dackefjord’s head in the spring of 2011, when on his routine run he spotted a lone-standing bicycle leaning against a tree, for weeks. He wondered if the bicycle was stolen or misplaced. It got him thinking and he soon found himself researching location technology and current solutions in the market. He soon realized that the IoT technologies of the day were competing within two distinct positioning categories – indoor and outdoor. From his research, he surmised that the indoor positioning market was filled with LPLAN solutions while the outdoor positioning market consisted mainly of satellite and cellular technologies – neither of which were suitable to track objects like bikes, tools or machines.

He then happened upon this understanding that objects needed to be tracked within the IoT space which would be on the move most of the time between the indoor and outdoor spheres, and in complex environments such as cities or construction sites. But no such tracking system existed at the time.

In 2013, Wittra® Sweden AB was founded as a consequence of the team’s tireless research, insight, and ongoing development. Wittra® technology has gained significant traction in the IoT industry and won several prestigious awards for its ground-breaking technology in location intelligence.

Protected by 51 patents, the company’s technology is making it possible to seamlessly track assets between the indoor and outdoor spheres, no matter what the environment. The company has been ceaselessly utilizing emerging standards to create products with the right market fit. Its solutions have been practical for keeping track of your things.

WITTRA® IOT OUT OF THE BOX

During the COVID-19 pandemic, sales of the company’s WITTRA™ IOT OUT OF THE BOX also sped up. During the second quarter, the product was sold to companies in a number of industries, such as the construction, healthcare and electricity industries.

The product is a wireless sensor network kit with a cloud-based API that can be deployed on a site to monitor objects and assets. The ruggedized kit, enables users to Connect, Sense and Locate their assets in the toughest environments such as heavy industrial sites and areas of weak connectivity. The use of sub-GHz frequency bands provides long transmission range and enables the signal to penetrate dense building infrastructure. With pre-certified hardware, the kit is secure, easy to deploy and ready for field deployment.

Growth in Times of the Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the world hard. Most industries and companies are affected in many ways by COVID-19, often with layoffs as a consequence. At the same time, the realization is growing that IoT can be the solution for digitization and automation, which is an issue that has gained even more weight during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wittra recently completed its commercial product launch with particularly good response from customers and has therefore put together a more offensive action plan to meet this increased demand.

Wittra is bringing a new way of creating and deploying IoT solutions based on internet technology. Wittra Sense IT and Find IT are unique tools that finally make IoT work in challenging environments in Construction, Rental, Inventory and other industries. The company has developed a technology for Moving Things. Its solution is utilizing specific ISM frequencies, together with patented positioning techniques to track and monitor assets with a large coverage, penetration of tough building materials, and a high accuracy.

The technology reaches everywhere, with high precision, letting you know where your stuff is and what it’s doing at all times – no matter how much it is moving around. The core of the Wittra technology is protected by more than 51 granted and pending patents across 12 patent families.
