The 2022 edition of the British Academy Film Awards was conducted at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday. Australian actress, singer, and comedian Rebel Wilson was the host of the 75th edition of BAFTA.
The 2022 edition of the British Academy Film Awards, often shortened to BAFTA, returned with a live, black-tie event after the pandemic-hit event of 2021.
There were 25 categories in the 2022 BAFTAs. Science fiction epic Dune was the biggest winner of the night, securing awards in Cinematography, Original Score, Production Design, Best Sound, and Special Visual Effects, totaling five in all.
Kiwi filmmaker Jane Campion won the Best Director award for her brooding Western The Power of the Dog, becoming the third ever woman to win the award’s prize since its inception. The movie also took home the Best Film award at this year’s BAFTA.
Will Smith won the Leading Actor for the biopic King Richard and British actress Joanna Scanlan won the Best Actress award for her role in After Love.
Japanese movie Drive My Car won the Best Film Not in English Language, and Lashana Lynch won the EE Rising Star Award.
