German firm MeKo sets up its first overseas medical technology setup in Costa Rica; innovation, sustainability, and job creation within the region benefit.
The German precision laser expert, MeKo has set its global footprint with the launch of its first medical technology facility abroad in Costa Rica — MeKo MedTech S.A. The step further strengthens the long term commitment of the company towards innovation and sustainable growth in the Americas.
MeKo focuses exclusively on the field of medical device manufacturing and has over 3 decades of experience in Latin American Market. The new facility will be spearheaded by Kai Leymann with the goal of capitalizing on Costa Rica’s able labor force and successful medical technology environment.
The expansion of Costa Rica’s largest pharmaceutical plant has been applauded by the nation’s Minister of Foreign Trade, Manuel Tovar, who says that it highlights Costa Rica’s leadership in medical technology, which now accounts for more than 40% of the nation’s export and sustains more than 58,000 jobs.
The new 1,400 sq. meter site will help facilitate economic growth, provide jobs, and share knowledge and ties in with the country’s commitment to clean energy, which is 97% renewable.
PROCOMER CEO Laura López said MeKo’s investment does not only diversify foreign capital sources but assists Costa Rica in consolidating its position as an important medical technology manufacturing hub.
This expansion cements MeKo’s place as a leader in driving medical technology solutions while building sustainability and high-impact partnership in the region.
