The Windows 365 Cloud Link is a lightweight, Cloud connected PC, powered to enable corporate workers with simple, secure access to virtual desktops and applications.
Microsoft is in the process of testing on a new computer aimed to ensure that white-collar workers will always be able to access their applications and files in the cloud. Windows 365 Cloud Link will likely cost 349$ in some countries in April this year, and has already been on sale in some early regions, including USA and Canada.
It is Microsoft's introduction of a new device that marks a big shift in how they will change people work and play, dropping desktops. Despite their Surface line not leading in the PC industry, Microsoft continues to develop hardware.
Device revenues have seen a decline of about 11% in the second quarter of 2024, but the company has seen success with cloud-based services like Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop due to the global pandemic and remote work trends.
The Windows 365 Cloud Link is a more than a pebble size, Intel chip powered device with 8GB of memory and 64GB storage. It’s a simplified version of windows CPC without local applications, only ease of use and security. Perfect for call centers and hot desk where people log into virtual desktops rather than their local application.
Melissa Grant, President and CEO, Women in 3D Printing recommends cloud connected devices as a good alternative to thin client. Microsoft’s new Windows 365 Cloud Link seeks to help organizations cut costs related to managing remote or hybrid staff.
