Apple plans to end support for iPhone XR, XS and XS Max users through iOS 19 which would remove mobile functionality for older devices.
Apple plans to show iOS 19 at the WWDC 2025 conference in June yet indications emerge that several older mobile devices may lose their support eligibility. Cupertino-based tech giant will no longer support iPhone XR alongside iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max according to sources.
The 2018 mobile models still utilize the A12 Bionic chipset that Apple released in 2018 and this chipset may not process iOS 19 properly. The information suggests that only iPhone 11 devices together with the iPhone SE (2020) and all later models will obtain the latest software update. Features within the update will vary between different devices. The Apple Intelligence AI suite keeps itself restricted exclusively to both the iPhone 16 series and particular iPhone 15 Pro devices specifically equipped with the A17 Pro SoC.
Apple plans to stop providing support to the seventh-generation iPad (2019) because o f its A10 Fusion chip which prevents it from using iPadOS 19. Recent developments indicate that the previous report indicating universal movement from iOS 18 to iOS 19 no longer stands true.
The mobile software rollout which is still months in the future might lead Apple to revise its development plans. Customers are recommended to check for official statements from the company regarding future developments.
