Google Maps has completed its remarkable journey of 15 years as a widely popular mapping service app this week. And on this occasion, Google has come up with a few new updates that render a new makeover to the app.
The new updates for the app have been rolled out for Android and iOS. The first update comes with an addition of two more tabs to the existing three tabs that are part of a quick access bar, present at the bottom of the screen.
The first new tab ‘Saved’ lets the users take a look at their self-created list of saved places. The second new tab ‘Contribute’ enables the users to add photos and reviews to places they have already visited. This new update facilitates the systematic organization of everything an app user needs into five different tabs.
In addition to the first update, Google Maps has also received a redesigned logo with a bit of rework. Also, there are few new features introduced on public transportation. Apart from information like estimated arrival time, how crowded a public transport is, showing transit lines in a city, these new features will provide additional information about the temperature in the public transport vehicle, accessibility options, security.
Google is also said to be working on improving Live View with new features that will serve the needs of the user in a better way by helping them easily find the place they are looking for.
