Ukrainian city has lost all mobile and internet access, leaving residents isolated and disconnected
In a chilling development from war-torn Ukraine, the city of Lysychansk in the Luhansk region has plunged into near-total isolation under Russian occupation. The once-bustling city is now without mobile networks or internet—cutting off residents from the outside world.
According to Oleksiy Kharchenko, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, communication has come to a standstill. In a message shared on Telegram, he confirmed that both internet and mobile services remain completely down.
For residents, the loss goes beyond mere inconvenience—it's a lifeline severed. Emergency contact is now only possible via outdated payphones or by showing up in person. There’s no wired communication with neighboring towns either, making even the simplest outreach impossible. The silence isn't just digital. Lysychansk is also grappling with limited access to basic utilities, and with winter looming, uncertainty hangs heavily in the air.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged of plans by occupying forces to relocate children from these territories to remote regions of Russia during the summer—raising further concern and confusion among already-distressed families. The blackout of mobile services not only disconnects Lysychansk from the world but also leaves its people unheard and unseen in the fog of war.
