Samsung announced Samsung A8 – the first phone that’ll make use of its new Infinity-O display in China. The new phone will feature a distinctive “hole-punch” design for the phone’s selfie camera.
The Infinity-O display incorporates a camera hole that’s 6.7mm wide for the selfie camera in the upper left corner of the mobile device. The selfie shooter camera features a more-than-decent 24-megapixel lens!
The device’s display is a 6.4-inch screen with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080, which is pretty decent for a mid-range phone. On the back of the device is the same triple-camera setup as the Galaxy A7. It consists of a 24MP main sensor, a secondary 10MP telephoto lens, and a third 5MP one for depth sensing.
In-display feature isn’t the only centerpiece feature of the device in the making. The pretty capable smartphone comes with a powerful Snapdragon 710 chipset; a 6 or 8GB of RAM, and 128 GB of onboard storage that's expandable up to 512 GB via microSD. There isn’t any word yet on the price or the release date of the device. It’s also equally unclear whether the phone would make it out of China.
That said the A8 might not be the only flagship phone to use the notch-less tech. Honor recently teased the View 20 and it also has a hole in the screen for the camera.
