Apple to launch Netflix-style paid video subscription service

It was earlier reported that Apple News - a paid subscription news channel would be announced in an event on March 25th. Latest reports suggest that Apple could also be announcing its much-awaited video subscription service at the same event.

Top stars including Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, JJ Abrams, and Jennifer Garner were invited to attend the event, speculating the launch of the video service. The premium video subscription service will have Apple’s original TV shows and movies, just like what Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and others offer.

Customers can subscribe to add-on channels, similar to what Roku and Prime Video Channel from Amazon offer. Since Apple intends to take on these video networking giants, it is unlikely to include Hulu, HBO, Netflix or other such players on its channels. To access the videos, you’ll simply need the TV app that comes pre-installed on iPhones, iPads, and also on Apple TVs.

Apart from this, there’s also an upcoming iTunes Movie and TV Shows app in a partnership between Apple and Samsung for the Samsung TV. To reach out to more audience, Apple will bring its video service to other devices, just like the Samsung TV. Creating original content has spiked the interest of creators and viewers alike. The new service from Apple may or may not stand out in the list of booming videos, but hopefully, Apple will make its mark successfully.
