To support networking and develop local talent, Deloitte recently deployed its Innovation Hub in Cairo at a cost of $30 million, hiring 5,000 workers.
Deloitte has officially opened the first Innovation Hub in Cairo, Egypt, as a strategic move to create more interactions and utilize the available skill set within the country’s tech landscape. This initiative will cost the firm US$30 million over three years, thus tackling potential brain drain by integrating the local population into the workforce and supporting the creative regions of Europe and the Middle East.
The Launching event was attended by Minister of Information, Communications, and Technology Amr Talaat, who is a key figure, and Chairman of the Egyptian Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed El Zaher. However, the chief executive officer of Deloitte North and South Europe Richard Houston put the focus on networking and how that can bring local people in touch with the world.
Hani Girgis, the leader at Deloitte’s Innovation Hub, expressed the role networking plays in skill development: “This investment is a strong endorsement of Egypt's ability to develop exceptional talent. The Innovation Hub will create a network of local professionals who will be able to positively change the society while providing outstanding services to our customers.”
As of September 2023, the hub had already hired more than 350 Egyptian professionals, both entry-level and experienced. Deloitte hopes to increase this figure to 5,000, drawing on local talent in computer science and engineering.
The Innovation Hub will also have a complete range of services in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, etc., with an emphasis on networking in order to achieve that goal across different fields, cementing even more Egypt's status as a market that has plenty of available work force.
