Apple's 5G phones with Intel power could be out next year

5G is here and everyone is gearing up their gadgets to adapt. Apple is surely all set to race with Intel backing it up. Intel’s new XMM 8160 5G modem is the modem of the future that is slated to release late next year. Devices with this chip may come out early in 2020 as manufacturers join the rush.

However, Qualcomm is already ahead in the race with 5G networking with its Snapdragon X50 5G NR modems. Partnered with major players like Samsung, Nokia, Sony, HTC, Fujitsu, etc, Qualcomm has promised to release devices in 2019. Intel on the other hand, has a lot of offer with its XMM 8160 5G modem with peak speeds of up to 6 gigabits per second. Intel has guaranteed that its modem will support 5G NR (New Radio) standard for both standalone and non-standalone specs along with millimeter wave (mmWave) support.

Reports from last year were already suspecting the tie-up between Apple and Intel. Now, it seems to be a reality. Apple already switched to Intel for its iPhone XS and XR after a bitter battle with Qualcomm. Even though Intel may be lagging behind in the 5G race, Apple is confident about it and will continue to stick with it. Be ready to welcome Intel 5G modem next year and iPhones with its chips thereafter.
