Oracle knocks on Germany's door

Oracle has announced its European region expansion in Germany, introducing new Infrastructure as a Service architecture and new IaaS and Platform as a Service (PaaS) cloud services. Oracle has been in the cloud business for long enough for its commitment to show. It has done so through extensive engineering and infrastructure investments.

With this, enterprises in Germany will be able to use German based modern IaaS to move and build its workloads to the cloud with enhanced security and governance at a very high price performance advantage over the traditional on premise storage or the prevailing cloud services. This expansion has been a result of rising customer demand.

“Our customers and partners in the EU and in Germany have trusted their businesses and mission-critical workloads to the Oracle Cloud for years,” said Thomas Kurian, president of product development, Oracle. “The expansion of the Oracle Cloud EU Region in Germany will deliver the best cloud services, not only our leading SaaS offerings, but also our new PaaS and IaaS offerings. Oracle will be providing EU-based cloud customers with unmatched performance, availability, and governance, and support of the broadest range of enterprise applications from any cloud platform.”

The new expansion will mainly consists of 3 three high bandwidth, low latency sites. Otherwise known as Availability domains, these sites will be located in Frankfurt and will operate with complete independence. This architectural approach coupled with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) will provide highest levels of failure protection according to Oracle.

Customers and partners of Oracle have been eagerly anticipating this news and are very much happy with the announcement. For instance, Accenture, one of Oracle’s long standing partners are quite enthusiastic to use the new services.

The new EU expansion in Germany will build in the existing Oracle Cloud UK region which was announced previously. The Oracle Cloud EU region in Germany will come online in the later part of this year.
