Apple unveiled its brand new M1 Ultra chip

Apple on Tuesday announced its all-new high-end CPU at its March 2022 hardware, the M1 Ultra. The new M1 Ultra aim’s to bring higher performance, likely to Apple’s desktop PCs meant for creative professionals.

Apple M1 Ultra processor is the company’s highest-end M1 Mac processor to date. The M1 Ultra chip links two M1 Max chips together into a single package with 20 processing cores, 64 graphics cores, and support for up to 128GB of memory. The M1 Ultra chip features a remarkable 114 billion transistors.

Apple claims that M1 Ultra is the most significant processor ever built. The enormous M1 Ultra chip has an 8,192 execution unit GPU, which places it at the same level as an RTX 3080 from paper specs alone.

Just like the other members of the M1 processor family, the M1 Max is a system-on-a-chip design (SoC), which means the GPU, CPU, RAM, storage, and media engine are all included in one big chip.

Unlike Apple’s other SoCs, the latest M1 Ultra will only be available in Apple’s newest Mac Studio. An M1 Ultra-powered Mac Studio will be priced at $3,999 in the United States, £3,999 in the United Kingdom, and AU$6,099 in Australia. The latest Mac Studio will be available on March 18.
