Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is the founder and CEO of Facebook, now known as Meta Platforms. Beginning his career into huge success whilst at university at the age of 20, the platform went on to become hugely profitable, becoming one of the largest and most widely used social media platforms in the world. By the age of 24 he was already a billionaire, and quickly became one of the youngest billionaires on the planet. Zuckerberg has donated millions towards a range of projects and charities across the globe. He is one of several highly wealthy individuals to sing the Giving Pledge. The Giving Pledge involves some of the world’s wealthiest people, such as Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, who have all promised to use the majority of their wealth to donate to charities and organizations to benefit those less fortunate.  Some of his biggest donations include donations of hundreds of millions into public schools in New Jersey and advances in education in the Bay Area. Alongside his wife, he has set up the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, in which they have pledged they will donate 99% of their Facebook shares to charitable causes.

Beny Steinmetz

Beny Steinmetz is an Israeli businessman who is involved in a number of businesses around the world and has an estimated worth of $3.9 billion. With the support of his wife, he founded the Agnes and Beny Steinmetz Foundation, which aims to improve prospects for Israeli children and young people from impoverished backgrounds. The work the charity carries out focuses on improving access to education, childcare, culture, art, and sports. The foundation has invested in many community projects to help make sure children and young people have more access to not only improved education opportunities but also extracurricular activities and pursuits. The foundation also runs the Beny Steinmetz scholarship, aiming to support young people with opportunities for further education that otherwise have limited access due to their background. With improved access to education and support, the foundation hopes to enrich the lives of Israeli children and young people that would usually be from high-risk backgrounds with limited opportunities for improving their prospects. Steinmetz is also a passionate supporter of the arts, has made generous donations to support art galleries, theatres, and museums throughout Israel and is a major supporter of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art as well as of a number of other important community projects.

Princess Eugenie is a member of the British royal family, and granddaughter to Queen Elizabeth II. although she is involved frequently in public engagements, she does not claim money from the privy purse and has her own full-time job and career. She is the associate director at an art gallery called Hauser and Wirth, as well as upholding her duties to the royal family and the public. Alongside this, she is highly involved in charity projects and is a generous philanthropist. She is involved in a wide range of charities, supporting projects to combat climate change, improve education, and support medical advances. She is particularly passionate about supporting health and social care, such as hospitals and medical services. She is a patron of the Teenage Cancer Trust alongside her mother, Sarah Ferguson, and sister Princess Beatrice. Being involved in the art world as her line of work, she particularly enjoys supporting art and culture, becoming a patron of the Tate’s young patron programme.

Bill And Melinda Gates

Bill Gates is the co-founder of Microsoft and is has frequently been labelled the richest man on earth. Alongside his wife Melinda, he is now involved full time in their charitable work, with their charity the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation founded in 2000. The charity aims to reduce poverty, suffering, and inequality around the globe, by improving access to health and social care, food and nutrition, and education. With projects taking place in Africa, China, Europe, and beyond, the charity has helped to improve the lives of people all over the world. The charity hopes to increase the access to essentials such as medical aid and improved education for some of the poorest communities around the globe. The Gates charity is also focused on improving other concerns such as gender and race rights. As mentioned previously, Gates has signed the Giving Pledge alongside Zuckerberg and Buffet to give away huge portions of their wealth for the benefit of charitable organizations and projects worldwide.
