The e-commerce giant, Amazon has opened its first cashierless grocery store based on “Just Walk Out” technology. The technology has previously been adopted by 25 Amazon Go convenience stores located in few of US metros.
The all-new Amazon Go Grocery store is located in Seattle. The store is the first of its kind, making the largest use of ‘Just Walk Out’ technology to date. The store covers 10,400 square feet overall.
The grocery store avails everyday grocery items like fresh produce, meat, seafood, bakery items, household essentials, dairy, easy-to-make dinner options, beer, wine and spirits, and more. In addition to the regular grocery items, the store also offers a mix of organic brands and special finds.
The Amazon Go Grocery store will prove to be highly beneficial for Amazon customers, who can now get their shopping done without the need of waiting in long queues. Like the Amazon Go convenience stores, Amazon Go Grocery store too allows the shoppers into the store if they scan into the Amazon Go app.
The cameras and sensors installed in the store track the movement of shoppers and items, keeping a check on the items picked off the shelf, put in the cart and also the items placed back on the shelf. When the shoppers exit the store, their cart is automatically checked out using their payment card on file.
