Amazon plans something tricky to curb thieves

Amazon is constantly in news for something or the other, these days we find thieves working as delivery guys. So to curb the situation, Amazon has planned to team up with US police in an effort to understand who steals the parcels left outside home.

New Jersey officers are placing dummy boxes which will have GPS trackers, along with hidden doorbell cameras. Leaving parcels outside is agreeable for many, but at the same time it is risky.

"We appreciate the increased effort by local law enforcement to tackle package theft and remain committed to assisting however we can," said Amazon.

In the previous year, Amazon launched Amazon Key to aid homeowners with smart locks to let couriers open their doors via an app and leave parcels inside.

There are also other ways to safeguard your deliveries:

  • Give your workplace address to keep your delivery safe or your friend who can pick your delivery during the day
  • Insist that deliveries must be signed for
  • Its good if cameras are installed to help police recognize thieves

Amazon lockers are also available to pick up your parcels in locations like shopping centres, convenience stores, airports, train stations and universities.
