Amazon has announced its new service Amazon Pharmacy, a new store on Amazon that will enable its customers to complete an entire pharmacy transaction from either their phone or on their desktop PC through the Amazon app.
The customers can create a pharmacy profile where they can add their insurance information, manage prescriptions, and choose from various payment options before checking out. Additionally, the Prime members will receive unlimited, free two-day delivery on orders from Amazon Pharmacy included with their membership.
Also, Prime members will be able to access savings on medications at Amazon Pharmacy while paying without insurance and at over 50,000 other participating pharmacies nationwide. Amazon said in its press release: “The Amazon Prime prescription savings benefit saves members up to 80% off generic and 40% off brand name medications when paying without insurance. Prime members will have access to their prescription savings at checkout on Amazon Pharmacy.”
Together, Amazon's new services will simplify how customers compare prices and purchase medications for home delivery. “We designed Amazon Pharmacy to put customers first – bringing Amazon’s customer obsession to an industry that can be inconvenient and confusing,” said TJ Parker, Vice President, Amazon Pharmacy.
