Will Christmas bring prosperity to retailers?

According to reports presented by Retailers’ Christmas Survey, there are expectations of high sales this winter. It is speculated that 2019 sales might transcend 2017 and 2018.

David White, Deloitte’s leader for national retail, wholesale and distribution revealed, that the company’s retailers are positive in approach. On the whole, compared to 2017, 2018 has seen immense success despite competitive and economic challenges.

White said, “With shoppers choosing to look and buy later and later each Christmas, helped by continuing improvements in online offerings and faster and more reliable delivery services, the first trading week in December will be of interest, and likely to cause at least some jittery nerves.”

White added that Australian retailers will have to see elevated online retail in other developed markets post remarkable investment in digital capabilities through 2017-18.

Hopefully, the year 2019 reaches the expectations of 90 percent retailers who have high hopes on sales growth. The expectation percentage is more than 10 percent in spite of over half expecting consumer confidence to fall. As per some reports, more than 50 percent of retailers will face downfall with no revenues from overseas. Let’s hope for the best!
