Target is keeping up with the race with its next-day delivery service. It is focused on everyday essentials, which has been in testing for a while now. With this, Target is now expanding to eight major metros, making it available to over 70 million people, or about one-fifth of the U.S. population.
In the cities that it is available in, customers can visit the Target Restock website and order from more than 15,000 items to refill your home with, from cereal to paper towels, beauty products to cleaning supplies. This puts the company in direct competition with Amazon Prime Pantry-like delivery service, and at the same time it offers faster delivery than Amazon.
Also, the new feature ensures that if you place an order of up to 45 pounds by 2 pm on a weekday, you'll get your items delivered to your door the next day for only $5. Amazon's Prime Pantry has the same weight limit but will run you $6.
This comes as another advancement that Target has made over the last few weeks. For instance, the recently added feature of Bluetooth beacon-powered indoor mapping component for in-store product location and so on. In addition, Target is also going to introduce mobile payments service with support for Target REDcard and Target MasterCard. Currently, this is still in beta.
