Target Restock: Next-day delivery from Target

Target recently acquired Grand Junction, a transport tech company to expand its delivery service. Through this, Target hopes to expand its next day delivery service, Target Restock. The new service is going to be launched first in Denver and Dallas.

Target Restock allows customers to choose from 15,000 essential items. Customers can order items that will weigh up to 45 pounds, roughly the size of a shopping cart. If customers place their order before 2PM, it will be delivered the next day. This also includes Saturday deliveries.

Restock targets to supply daily needs and essentials. This includes fresh and frozen items from the grocery that includes cleaners, health and personal care items, pet food, dry goods and a whole bunch more. The company notes that Restock service has been tweaked a bit since its first-consumer facing tests. There are additional expanded array of goods like school supplies and baby food.

Target Amazon

This new program of Target comes as a direct competition to Amazon Prime Pantry. While Target Restock charges $4.99 per box, Amazon Prime Pantry charges customers $5.99. And of course, annual Prime membership is required to order from Prime Pantry. Whereas, there is no requirement of any membership to order from Target Restock.

But apart from the charges, the items are expected to be delivered sooner, with Grand Junction acquisition, than that of Amazon’s deliveries. However, how many of Amazon loyalists will move over to the brick-and-mortar retail giant’s new feature remains unsure. But this clearly sends out the message that Target is clearly competitive.
