CommonSense Robotics to boost small grocery retailers

CommonSense Robotics is a startup based out of Israel that is aiming to use its specialization in robotics to provide on-demand logistics and software solutions to grocery retailers. It will be focusing on helping out small retail outlets located in the urban areas.

CommonSense Robotics is setting out to create what it calls fulfillment centers that will be enabled by automated robots and AI that will help the retailer to deliver goods to customers within an hour. These will be owned and operated by CommonSense Retailers, with the retailers paying a nominal price per order.

The company is not keen on collaborating with giants like Amazon and Walmart. Instead, it wants to help smaller companies to keep up with the mightiest by offering their own expeditious delivery services. It already has a test facility located in an underground parking garage of its own office in Tel Aviv. The startup has plans of opening more facilities in Europe and the U.S. after the testing phase is done.

CommonSense Robotics has some serious backing with it recently raising $20 million in a series A round of funding led by Playground Global, Aleph VC, and Innovation Endeavors. Next few years will be pretty exciting with CommonSense Robotics stepping up its game to match other companies in this space like Ocado, which has even bigger funding.
