Alexa users can now unlock Schlage Sense and Connect smart locks. Previously, users have been able to lock and check the status of their smart Schlage deadbolts with Alexa; however, unlocking still required a phone. Now, with any Alexa-enabled device, users can unlock their Sense and Connect smart locks.
For security purposes, the feature is automatically disabled and hence users need to enable the feature through the Amazon Alexa app. Once enabled, the users need to create a PIN for future usage. So now, if you need to unlock the door, the PIN has to be spoken to Alexa. Also as an additional security measure, three wrong attempts will lead to disabling of the voice control feature.
Lock and unlock smartly
Also, a Schlage Sense Wi-Fi adaptor is required for using Alexa on a Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt. It’ll give the users the ability to lock and unlock the deadbolt from anywhere with just your smartphone. That’s not all. Users will also need a Samsung SmartThings or Wink hub to use Alexa with Schlage Connect Touchscreen Deadbolt. Interestingly, Alexa is the late entry to the Schlage Sense locks as the smart locks work perfectly with the Google Assistant and Siri.
