Smart security doorbells and camera are trending in the market. While Nest is going to launch its first smart video doorbell, Amazon is all set to buy Ring. Ring has been producing a bunch of security items including doorbells, like solar security cameras, floodlight cams, and an in-home alarm system.
Just a couple of months back, Amazon acquired Blink. And it’s all set to acquire Ring now. The details of the deal aren’t clear yet, especially the financial terms of the acquisition. But reports suggest that the sale price was more than $1 billion.
It’s an Amazon world
Amazon’s interest in Ring correlates with its own in-house connected camera technology. However, the technology that Amazon had designed wasn’t a hit. On the other hand, Ring has time and again proved itself with the solid hardware it develops. And the bonus array of patents is a plus point as well.
All the tech giants like Google, Apple, and Amazon itself are fighting for physical space in and around your home with smart home technology products. So Amazon acquiring Ring makes absolute sense. Moreover, there are going to be plenty of folks signing into Amazon to check doorbells.
