The Smart Cities Mission of India continues its tenth-anniversary approach by completing 90% of projects which steer urban development using smart infrastructure and sustainable growth avenues.
The Smart Cities Mission stands at a decade mark while India acknowledges major progress in developing Smart Infrastructure across its nation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the mission in June 2015 yet the SBI report suggests that 7,500 out of 8,000 planned projects worth Rs 1.64 lakh crore have been completed in 100 cities.
The Smart Infrastructure has received primary attention throughout the initiative by leveraging substantial financial contributions to urban mobility and water and sanitation systems. Around 3,000 developed projects under these areas consumed Rs 22 crore on average. The utilization rate of funds reaches almost 92% as Uttar Pradesh leads the other states alongside Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra.
With central funding from the government amounting to Rs 48,000 crore the mission capitalizes on several financial instruments that include state budgets and municipal bonds. Smart Infrastructure emerges as a pioneering initiative that advances developmental changes in urban India by enhancing life quality and sustaining resources while closing infrastructure deficiencies.
Smart Infrastructure within the framework of the Smart Cities Mission continues as the central foundation towards modern urban planning in India which will shape future smart urban development.
