Experts recommend that Nigeria should use technology, local resources and community ideas to create smart infrastructure for national growth and steady progress.
Adepeju Sanusi, who is a construction expert in the USA, has advised Nigeria to introduce smart infrastructure despite the ongoing economic problems. At The Catholic University of America, he pointed out that effective strategies, research and handling risks are crucial for successful infrastructure development.
She pointed out that when politics takes priority over technical considerations, numerous projects in Nigeria often end up incomplete or fail. She supports projects that link technology, environmental protection and the involvement of local people to maintain success over a long period.
“With the help of BIM, we can design and build projects more efficiently by considering simulations and up-to-date information,” Sanusi pointed out. She pointed out that using smart infrastructure helps to prevent delays, ensures more accountability and cuts down on waste.
Sanusi insisted that more domestic resources and stronger local supply chains can help reduce reliance on foreign goods and fight against inflation. She additionally encouraged the creation of better laws and more engagement from businesses to get investors interested.
She stated that the foundation of smart infrastructure lies in local innovation and openness. Getting involved in the community helps maintain trust and prevents most legal issues. Sanusi believes that by adopting smart infrastructure, Nigeria can increase its global competitiveness and build strong, lasting growth—even during periods of change.
